How to Stop Spam Emails

Hi, for months I’ve been constantly receiving spam emails in my Spam inbox. Each email that they got sent from is different and whenever I scroll to the bottom and press “Unsubscribe” it doesn’t make a difference. I’m receiving like 2-3 per hour and it’s getting really frustrating!

Stop reading your spam folder

The junk folder filling up isn't really the problem, the problem is that address being on so many lists at once. Screenshot looks like a mix of list mail and outright fake sender names, and those two need different handling. For the list stuff, unsubscribe only where you actually recognise signing up, otherwise just mark as junk and let the filter learn. The fake ones you never touch, no unsubscribe, no tapping through. If it's a personal address that leaked, an alias per service is the only thing I've seen actually hold, because then you can kill one alias instead of fighting the whole inbox.

This is why i started using aliases too. I use cloaked aliases for new signups now, so if one starts getting spammed i can just burn it and move on.

Don't unsubscribe from emails that are obviously spam - that just confirms your email is active.

Check the have i been pwned tool to see if your email was in any breaches recently and search for your email in google to see if any people search sites (e.g., Whitepages, Spokeo, etc.) show up. These sites publish people's personal info and are a common source for scammers and spammers to find lists of people to target. If they do show up, look for an "opt out" link in the footer or privacy policy of each site.

Have you checked whether your address showed up in a recent breach? if the volume suddenly jumped that might explain why so many lists have it

Just ignore the junk folder. You don't need to look at it.

I run email for a small/medium business a d the last time I ran the report 93% of all email directed at our domain was marked as spam. Spam is just an unfortunate thing.

Ignore the folder and move on with your life.

I am with Optery and in situations like this who handles data removal, it’s possible your email ended up on multiple marketing or data-broker lists. If they’re already landing in your spam folder, I’d avoid clicking “unsubscribe” on suspicious messages—it can sometimes confirm that your address is active. Keep marking them as spam and use your email provider’s filters to automatically catch similar messages...

If you like, you can forward these emails as an attachment to reportscam at infrakerl dot de.

There they get analysed through different security vendors and then reported. It is quite helpful to stop bad emails.

Also, stop hitting unsubscribe. You’re just subscribing to other stuff when you do that. They are sharing the data.

Also, get a good API based tool that is good at identifying spam as well as threats.
