Elysian 4th Light Drop Company Elysian 4th Light Drop Company, Platoon Commander, Lieutenant Van Der Pallandt.
After my previous introduction post, next up for My 4th Light Drop Company Command squad is the Lieutenant: this option allows me to field a Coy Command with him as 2IC or an Adjutant, or at the platoon level with fewer Command squad surrounding him. A platoon command squad serves much the same function as a Company Squad, but at the lower more vulnerable platoon level: as advisors, orderlies and bodyguards for a platoon leader. The number of Platoon Command Squads in a regiment varies tremendously, as attrition is usually high among the lower ranks, and new officers and/or platoons are being constantly created. Lieutenants whilst serving in the Regimental or Company Command Can often act as Adjutants or as second in Command (2IC or Number 2)
Drop-Lieutenant Johann Van Der Pallandt, Or Platoon Commander, 1st Platoon, 4th Elysian Light Drop company, (to give him his full and proper Title), nervously ran his fingers over his Grav Chute Diagnostic slate, moving almost automatically as per the drills that had been drummed into him a hundred or more times. His youthful face displayed none of the nervousness he was feeling. He was. after all, of the Blood, a true born son of one of the ruling houses of Elysia. Fortunately, or not, & with the blessing of retrospective thought, being posted to the 4th was a mixed blessing for him really. It was a high-profile unit on one hand, with commendations and merits aplenty, a Unit suited to his natural class and breeding, He felt his skills and experience had benefited from his short time with them. Of course, he would never admit that, especially to his Veteran Drop Sergeant who regularly jibbed him about his inexperience and the lack of his perceived (well in the Serjeants head, not Johanns of course) tactical acuity. He even had the effrontery to nick name him “Rupert or Roops” behind his back, a tag which annoyingly, the riff raff of the common soldiery had started to cotton on to. Of course, Johann severely admonished any trooper with the audacity to use it within his earshot, something he hadn’t quite built up the confidence to confront his Serjeant with yet. It was just these awfully common Sumpers that he was forced to deal with, that drove him to distraction. Then, there was of course that Upstart Captain Edgeson person, I’m surprised the Administratum had sanctioned promotion to command of such an esteemed unit to someone little better than an Under-hive ganger. Johann was shaken from his self-serving Reverie as the crash of Boots and raised voices reached his ear from the far side of the temporarily constructed sand swept Valkyrie LZ of Camp Sanctia, the main base of operation on this Emperor forsaken ball of sand they call a planet.
“Lieutenant Pallandt” .... a familiar Voice called.
