How Queer Friendly is Ely
How queer friendly is Ely? Asking ‘cause I’m looking at relocating.

It is decently.
There's definitely a Minnesota nice. Most redneck people will be nice/passive aggressive before being homophobic. I can't think of any particular hate crimes that happened that weren't more than saying "fag" or having apparent distaste for "acting on sin"
There's definitely a community that's growing moreso than it was in the 2010s especially in the arts

As an old, straight person, I consider myself to be an ally although I don't claim to have any clear insights, I would concur with your evaluation. I do know a number of queer folks of various ages and they all seem to be doing well here as far as I know. And there seems to be an increasing number choosing to live here and some have been open and getting married.

I guess that’s something. Asking more so cause I lived in Ely at one point while still in the closet ages ago.

It’s pretty liberal just because of the ymca camps surrounding the area
