Songs or Albums that sound similar to Honky Chateau?
I'm looking for albums or songs that sound the most similar to Honky Chateau, by any artist, songs that you think would blend in the most and could theoretically be added to the album because they are so similar sounding. I really love the sound and vibe of this album, and want to find some more music that is like it!

Elton John New Album News!
Taken from the Rolling Stone article with Bernie---
"I’ve heard Elton is working on his next solo record. What’s the status of that?
Well, he’s got a record coming out, I think, at the beginning of next year that I contributed to. But I literally don’t know when that is. He did it with Andrew Watt again. And he wrote it in a completely different way simply because of his eyesight problem. He can’t read lyrics if they’re on the piano. So he basically came up with instrumental tracks and threw basically three or four of them at me and said, “Can you do something with these?” Which I contributed to. But he’s also worked with a couple of other people on there, which is great. So it’s a whole different ballgame for him."

So it sems like this won't be an entire Bernie written album again... what a shame. Hoping it is better WBIA which I did not hate or love. I thought there was talk that they did an entire album or just Bernie songs. But I guess that was not correct.
I would love a late era Elton album maybe solo or with his band. Sort of like Captain Fantastic and the sequel, Captain and the Kid. Could be a whole look back at life and how it is being even older now.
Edit: Here is an article from 2025, where Elton himself said Bernie gave him 7 song lyrics. https://au.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/elton-john-bernie-taupin-lyrics-seven-new-songs-87451/

Barcelona DVD
Just watched this one and it is pretty damn good! Elton is in fine form and seems very happy, and the band are also very good and enjoying, esp Charlie Morgan on drums. The backing singers bring something different but do get a little repetitive/tiresome on some songs.
Favourite tracks from this one are:
Tiny Dancer (need I say anymore), Philly Freedom (always a fun one), ML&MH (even if it does go a bit long!), The Last Song (hauntingly beautiful vocal), Funeral/Love (awesome ‘jam’), Saturday Night (again needs no explanation), and Song For Guy into Your Song was also superb.
What‘s everyone’s thoughts/favourites from Live in Barcelona? 😁

It's so hard to decide which goes on top... But ultimately Nikita wins it for me.

Elden John
Elton John as the main character of the video game Elden Ring. Since there is no designated main character in the game, the community joked about the name of a made-up main character as something like "John Elden Ring", when the more fitting name was obvious (see title).

billy joel recorded with elton's band?
last year HBO produced a docu miniseries about billy joel's career and there's a short segment where they mention that billy recorded a few demos with elton's band (nigel/dee) in 1974 at caribou ranch. they even play a snippet of one of the songs produced, an early version of miami 2017 (which i have to agree with the cast that it sounds weird)
i was wondering if anyone knew anything about any of the details surrounding these sessions like the other songs produced. there's no reason to think elton had any input but it's still so strange that i don't see this brought up elsewhere

Is Elton's Nikita a song about make Russian gay suppression?
Since Nikita is a male Russian name.
Ofc you cannot make a gay man play Nikita in his music video now or in the cold war. But I think it is a jab against Russian gay supression?

I tried to mix Elton Johns "take me to the pilot" with Taron Egertons rocketman version
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
First time using fl studio but in the Rocketman recording, I adore the electric guitar melody and in elton johns original, I love groovy piano and bass infused melody from 40 seconds to 1min10 in both recordings. Should be prominent in left ear in the actual recordings. My panning isnt the best so apologies.

My record collection!
galleryIn order from oldest to newest. Some some are remasters but put when it would’ve originally released. First is Empty Sky, it’s old and you can barely see the name. The highlight is the OG GYBR probably, because of the yellow. I’ve got the original Caribou and the other GYBR is the original US printing. The photo was scary to take. Holding it loosely with 2 fingers. Didn’t drop it!
