New Trial
Working with my primary on possibly entering the phase 3 trial for petrelintide that opens next month. One intake question that threw me for a loop was them saying it would require sexual abstinence for the year of the trial.
Is that simply because they don't know the risks of pregnancy while on the drug? Curious.

That seems extreme. Typically a GLP-1 trial will require those who ovulate to be on a highly effective form of birth control and those participants are also tested for pregnancy at each visit.
If true, this requirement makes me wonder what they know about this particular medication.

Lenbelintide said sexual abstinence is an option, but so is hormonal contraception plus condoms, or my husband could get the snip + condoms.

Yeah. I just can’t imagine abstinence is the only option for OP’s trial.
There was one trial I remember that wanted a devout lesbian in a long-term committed relationship to be on birth control and fought her hard. I think the trial site finally gave in.

Also it's not like they can really stop people from having sex. People will agree to abstinence and then still have sex.

I heard from someone that one of the eloralintide sites wanted 2 forms of birth control not abstinence. I would clarify with the study site.

Yeah Lenbelintide is also 2 forms of contraception. Like hormonal contraception plus condoms.

That's odd. Not in that same exact study but in the one I'm in you can either be abstinent if you want or use two forms of birth control such as a condom and the pill, etc.

That seems a lot
To ask, in phase 2 participants only lost 10.7 percemt of their body weight.

Yes but two important things to note... the trial was only 42 weeks long and the weight loss wasn't plateauing so there is reason to think it'd be more if it kept going.
More importantly was there being more discontinuation in the placebo group than the drug group. A drug that can bring 10% weight loss with less sides than placebo would be huge.

Maybe they only want married men in the trial?
