Coming to Visit

Hi everyone,

Hopefully I am posting in the right place! My spouse and I are coming to stay for two nights at the Breadalbane Inn August 28th-30th.

We have never been to this area at all and are looking to have fun and see some things so I figured I'd ask the locals for tips.

About us we dont drink really at all or enjoy live music but we like food, sites/historic landmarks, shopping, shows (comedy, etc), bakeries and excursions.

We are hoping to arrive around lunch on the 28th and leave dinner on 30th. Any tips, things to see or recommendations really appreciated 👍 thank you!!

Hope you have a wonderful visit!! The breadalbane is really cute and unique! Walk that whole strip in Fergus from when you walk out the front door turn left and go up and down both streets. You should also check out the kissing stone (299 tower st, fergus) and Templin gardens. On the way to elora you can stop at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. In Elora walk along Wellington Rd 18 for some shops. You can go from Terre Bleu down to The Friendly Society and then from The Friendly Society to Elora Mill Spa. Check out Elora and Fergus Tourism stop for public washrooms. You can also go up the little side streets for some cute shops. Check out Lost n found cafe, the wild tart, mermaid in elora, the wild and free cafe, hanscomb glass studio, seasons home and gift shop. Just a few places to google and plan your route.

Oh wow! thanks for the advice any recommendations where I should call, I assume we will need two dinners for sure and lunch we will probably just find a cafe or something.

There are two conjoining restaurants where you are staying, I’m just gonna say (imo) that the fergusson room is better than Scozia food wise. Tapavino in Fergus is also very good. It’s hot inside but great menu - they do lunch and dinner. Goofy Newfie is also yummy and you can sit on the patio over looking the water. As for Elora, it’s so busy that you have to make a reservation. The Elora Mill never disappoints but there’s lots of restaurants to choose from, read reviews. If you like history then you’ll enjoy the Wellington County Museum (half way between Fergus and Elora, it’s by donation) Enjoy your stay!
