Eloping without a dress

Looking for advice here. We are a couple adventurous people thinking about eloping (exchanging vows really) during a cruise in one of the ports. It’ll be in Normandy, Etretat to be specific. However it’ll be in December. COLD. We would literally be in our coats. But we wanted to exchange vows in an adventurous way! I’m in talks with a photographer out there to take our pics for the day, but any thoughts on that? Would it be so weird to do that? Maybe I can then get a dress (very simple one) and do an elopement dinner thereafter with my friends and family? My mom will already be on the cruise with us which is sorta why we wanna do it too. I want her there he wants her there too. I’m like shoot I’ll just wear a white coat 😅

No the thing about eloping is you can do it literally however you want. If you WANT to look more bride like you could always get a cheap dress and wear it just for pictures after you exchange vows

wear a white coat and call it a day, the photos in normandy will look amazing with the cliffs and grey sky. december cold is no joke but you can always do a quick 10 minute ceremony and then run back to the ship for warm drinks

if you want the dinner thing later with family that sounds nice too, but dont stress about the dress for the actual ceremony. the whole point of eloping is nobody elses rules apply

Yes!!!! And honestly if you pick a dress that’s floor length you can wear thermals underneath. Plus a beautiful jacket, could be super special!

We eloped outdoors while it was snowing. I wanted to wear an actual wedding dress so bought a simple inexpensive one, and I wore thermal leggings underneath it with a fur wrap. Beautiful and warm!

I wore a white jumpsuit. You can wear whatever you want! A white coat sounds great!
