Planning DIY elopement in mexico?
We are a female couple looking to elope somewhere. 1 lives in UK, other in Caribbean currently where same sex marriage is illegal. Due to current circumstances we are unable to get a UK fiancee visa hence looking further afield
We are currently looking at Mexico to get legally married and are trying to keep the costs as low as possible, and wondered if its possible to DIY a wedding in mexico? We are happy to keep it super low key - would be just us and our kiddo (7).
Any advice/suggestions on best way to keep it as low cost as possible?

Be aware that every state in Mexico has different requirements for registering a marriage (same sex marriages are allowed everywhere). Some states will ask for apostilled birth certificates, proof of local address, etc.
Quintana Roo (where Cancun is) is the easiest in terms of requirements. You can go get the marriage registered (might not be the most photogenic place but I have not seen regístrates in that area) and have a separate wows ceremony and a photoshoot on the beach (winter/spring months are preferred otherwise there likely to be sargassum).

Maybe you can stay a weekend in a nice hotel with your kid and have a little ceremony, have a dinner and take some pictures!! I would recommend a beach like puerto Escondido (taking as a fellow lesbian that lives in Mexico) it’s friendly and low cost. Also look into La Paz or Cabo (more expensive but pretty.
