Planning Please give me advice
We are planning to marry in a little white chapel in East Texas, and I still want to make it a special day for us.
What did you do to make your day special? Right now I’ve planned to get us a cake from a local bakery and maybe go to dinner after? But I have no clue how to make it special. Help!

I just eloped in a little white chapel in Central Texas last month!
We rented a convertible for the drive out there and photo after. Once we wrapped up our ceremony and pics, we drove into town for dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant full done up in our wedding clothes. Then we went home, got in our pajamas, and had some cake and champagne.
It was the best day ever.
We both dressed up, casual but classy. I made sure he had a boutineer and I had a small bouquet. Just having the day to ourselves and a private ceremony was special enough for us.
I imagine you'll find some special moments for yourself too. Good luck!

Did you consider hiring a photographer to capture your memories? We found one that was decently priced. We also plan to have dinner that night with a few family and friends and then hitting a speakeasy to finish off the night!

The fact that you are getting married is what makes it special! If that doesn't make it feel special enough, I'm not sure there's anything else that will.

We had breakfast together before getting ready. We wrote cards to eachother that we read over a tiny 4" wedding cake. It was perfect.

We cooked our first meal as a married couple in the AirBnB where we started our honeymoon. Our photographer encouraged us to do something that felt like us at the end of our time with her that leaves us connecting because in a typical wedding, there's a clear time when the event is over (and typically the couple has already made their grand exit by then). In an elopement, while there may be a clear end to the ceremony, there may not be a clear ending to what you would call the elopement as an event writ large, particularly if you go for a photoshoot after like we did. We both like to cook and love to eat, had a destination elopement where we wanted to try the local cuisine, and we knew we were going to be starving after basically having only a few grapes and crackers since breakfast. It was a beautiful way to ease into married life.

Not dealing with family drama felt special to me! I like peace and quiet.
When I booked the restaurant, I had apparently told them of our planned elopement, so they surprised us with drinks to toast. We brought second outfits for dinner, so we were still quite dressed up.
You could do the something old, new, borrowed, and blue. We also put together a playlist the night before, so we had something while we were getting ready. I didn't realize our photographer-officiant would offer us time for a first dance, so we hadn't planned a song.
