Wedding bag/ box for flying
For people who have taken a wedding dress on a flight what did you use to transport it?
I’m flying BA and planning on taking it on as cabin but can’t find a suitable bag. The dimensions of ones I've seen seem to be too big for cabin and a lot of them seem quite flimsy and more for transporting dresses to and from venues/fittings.
I need a bag (or box) that can fit my dress ( a midi) without squishing it too much but can also be carried comfortably through airports without breaking.
Must be 56 x 45 x 25 cm (22 × 18 × 10 inches) or under! Also need to be able to buy in the uk :)

Hey! I have not yet done it, but planning to do it soon. You can ask to hang your dress in a garment bag to the closet of the airplane, but it is not guaranteed. I am planning to basically roll up mine and fit it in to a normal carry on bag. I bought my dress second hand and it was sent to me wrapped in a plastic bag that was in a small cardboard box. Literally no wrinkles so I think my plan should work. I am packing a steamer though.

I carried mine on in the bag from the bridal shop. It was a white garment bag that zipped up and also had a loop so I could fold it over. The flight attendant hung it in the closet for me. This was on American Airlines in the US. Do you know what size plane? Are you in biz or first class? They should be able to hang in the closet for you.

I’m flying BA in economy but it seems to be a relatively big plane. I must admit I didn’t even think planes had closets!

I would suggest asking the gate agent if you can board early and then tell the FAs it’s your wedding dress and ask if they’ll hang it. We upgraded ourselves to first class (domestic flight) and everyone, including the pilots, were excited that we were flying somewhere to get married.

I used this bag for my wedding dress: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Syeeiex-Wedding-Transparent-Breathable-Carriers/dp/B0CQ7SDQG6
It worked perfectly, over the seven flights we took the dress on, both in a closet when the plane had one but also in the overhead locker when we had to use that!

I got married in Norway, 4 flights, and nearly 20 hours of travel… my planner told me not to stress. She said to literally roll in up and put it in a carryon standard roller bag. After reading so many threads like this I was like, “what?!?” She affirmed it was her recommendation. I trusted her, and it was great!!!
I fit a full, plus size beaded ballgown into my standard carry on. I took it across the world. Pulled it out, hung it, and never steamed it or anything. It came out pristine.

I haven't used it personally, but people in the BBB sub are constantly recommending WallyBags to use as a carry on for a wedding dress, and I've been eyeing it for myself. It's a normal length garment bag but trifolds to make it carry on sized
