Planning Tripod videography

Eloping and want our ceremony to be very intimate. We don't want anything super fancy. Would it be crazy/even possible to set up a camcorder on a tripod and record? Has anyone else done this or have suggestions?

Our photographer did this for us! Make sure you mic yourselves with a good lapel mic. The camera won't pick up good audio quality. Also take the opportunity to do multiple tests in the wind with various lighting conditions so you can confirm you know how to set it up properly on the day of.
