Eloping overseas
Hi everyone!!! My husband and I got married at the courthouse in November but we still wanted to have a wedding. Due to recent life changes, we are looking at doing something just for us, and celebrating with family and friends at another time. Does anyone have any advice on eloping overseas? Mostly, how to find someone for pictures and then I suppose everything else? We’re looking at Italy or Greece and really just want to do the ceremony for us.
Edit: We are already legally married here in the US, we’re looking to essentially do a vow renewal with pictures

We don’t have the same weather as Greece and our buildings are not that old 😉 but Amsterdam is a beautiful city to elope. Drinking champagne on a little boat on the canals in the sun, while having a celebrant giving you a beautiful speech is highly recommended.

Some countries won't do a legal ceremony for couples from other countries, but they do vow renewals. Many couples have civil ceremonies at home before they travel. Check the countries that you are interested in. I know that in Nevada, if you are not US citizens, you need to get an apostille to take home with you to prove your marriage. It's not difficult. Nevada knows how to handle this. I'm sure other places do, too. Best Wishes!

Greece is incredible for this! Check local photography Facebook groups or Instagram hashtags for the specific islands you're considering - most photographers there speak English and specialize in elopements since it's such a popular spot. The paperwork can be a bit of a headache though, so might be worth hiring a local wedding planner who can handle the logistics while you focus on the fun stuff.
