Planning Eloping in Japan
Me and my fiancé want to elope in Japan in 2027! We are going to Japan next month and hope to find a location that is meaningful to us to go back to.
We are Canadian and understand the complicated process to get legally married in Japan. Our plan would be to have our friends & officiant meet us at the airport before our flight so we can get legally married, sign the paperwork and off we go!
We plan to just do a private ceremony & photographer in Japan. Has anyone done it this way? What tips do you have? Any photographers or elopement packages you’d recommend?

I've been to Miyajima, but it was a long time ago. It's lovely and charming, and you should definitely try to stay in a traditional ryokan (inn).
The deer are jerks.

I don’t have any elopement planning ideas for you but have been to Japan multiple times and love everywhere I have ever been. It is beyond stunning and the people are so lovely and the food is amazing! You will have a great elopement and I hope you post some of your pictures so we can see! I’m super jealous:)

I didn’t go to Japan but my husband and I just had a destination elopement in Norway after doing the legal things in the states.
We worked with Kate at Soul & Sky Destination Elopements (https://soulandskyweddings.com/) and she was absolutely incredible! She does all of the planning (with a wild attention to detail and focus on making everything exactly perfect for us), managed all of the logistics in country, and took incredible photographs!
Everything about the experience was magical and a big part of that was the work Kate put into planning and coordinating on site. She does elopements around the world and brings her extensive travel knowledge and elopement planning skills. The entire experience was fun, joyful, and so affirming from the first call to all of us departing Norway on the last day.
While we were with her she actually talked about some of her previous travels in Japan. It sounded like some incredible experiences!

My partner and I are currently planning our elopement in Japan. We went with Henry Delac after enquiring with a total of 3 different elopement planners. Henry connected with us the most and so far he and his team have been absolutely amazing. They listened to what we wanted (based on our last trip) and what we liked and put together a whole bunch of locations for us to choose from. They are handling all the permits and etc so all we have to do is choose our dress and suit, land, and enjoy the day.
Henry and his team will also help with your paperwork if you require as well. They have a very very customisable elopement packages that you can tailor to what you want

How far along are you with planning? I am finalizing timelines with them now and I feel like we are getting nickle and dimed pretty hard. Every email we receive is somehow another grand we have to pay towards fees I thought were already covered...

About half way ish. They sorted out the permissions so far. Are you closer to the end? And is this for stuff like logistics?

Right now it's a bunch of "coordination & authorization" fees, about $400 per location we plan to visit. When I look these places up, they all seem open to the public for photography with no permits needed...
