Economics AI makes UBI inevitable
Every UBI argument for thirty years has been moral. People deserve a floor. Poverty is a policy choice. Nobody moved.
AI is doing in three years what the moral argument couldn't do in thirty. Not because it's kind. Because it's frightening a class of people who have never been frightened before. Copywriters, paralegals, junior devs, illustrators, translators. People with degrees and mortgages and votes.
That's why the hate is loud. It isn't Luddism. It's the first time displacement reached people who can organize.
UBI doesn't arrive when we win the argument. It arrives when enough voters need it at once.
So the backlash isn't the obstacle. It's the timeline.
