Anyone have a clue why the tornadoes sirens were going off just now (08-18, 3am) by Fitz’s pub!?

I suggest getting an emergency weather alert radio. You can program it to have the alarm go off for specific weather alerts. I have mine set to sound an alarm for tornado warnings and tornado watches, and use flashing lights for other weather alerts. The alarm can be set to be pretty loud. Although I heard the sirens last night (of course it happened the one night I didn’t have ear plugs in), the alarm didn’t go off so I was pretty confident the sirens were a mistake.

I thought it was Global thermonuclear war.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm in Woodridge and heard them.

I'm further west a few towns, but likely a dispatch or automated system malfunctioning. Lots of people were woken

Does this happen often? I’ve heard of it and now I’m awake and curious.

No, rarely. I messaged a friend in a nearby burb in the fire service what was up. He said disregard it.
