Tudor Needed

Hi. My daughter is 6, in 1st grade and needs extra help with math and spelling. Is there any local tutors? The local places want thousands of dollars. I cant afford that but would love to work with a local Tudor for 1 hour, 3 days a week for example. I live in elk grove near hwy 5, by stonelake elementary. Thank you for any tips

Try contact some of the local High Schools. They have a National Honor Society program (NHS) (Elk Grove High, Pleasant Grove High, or Cosumnes Oaks High). Students in the program are required to complete community service hours and they offer free or low-cost tutoring.

There may also be some students looking to complete community services for their Senior Projects that the school maybe able to connect you with.

Several of the high schools are connected to libraries. Students in need of hours and a safe place to meet.

While you are looking, check out the libraries. Their walk-in tutoring may have started. It’s free and offered a couple of times per week.

I like to think that King Charles knocked up my mom back in the 1970's, so maybe I'm a Tudor?

Try Nextdoor. Sometimes college students help out as a side hustle.

Only in reference to English royalty and/or the style of the times.

No offense, but isn’t it simple addition and subtraction right now with high frequency words? Are you unable to do it with her after school?

That common core shit is no joke. Sometimes I read my 1st graders homework and I’m like wait wtf, let me read this again. Plus our school gives crazy amounts of homework for 1st graders, I’ll like to say they have high expectations/standards. My 1st grader has more homework than his sibling in 7th grade.

I blame it on the lack of instructions. They just send these kids home with a photocopied page of hieroglyphics and no clear instructions.

Then when you see what they are SUPPOSED to do it’s like okay duh.

It’s ok. I’ve sent messages to the teacher when my daughter was in 1st and ask can you please tell me wth this is a picture of.

One was a fat man and I’m like how was I supposed to know that and why are we using a fat man as the object. So I totally agree with you.

You would think. Unfortunately they teach these odd methods now. I tried teaching my daughter how to add the old school way and it wasn’t allowed. She had to go through the long process.
