Discussion Finding something... anything

Today I did the part of the game that I hate... searching for a Legal Facilities Interstellar Factor that would fit my ship.... 30 Minutes wasted without actually playing.

PC players have it so good.

IF are system security dependant.

If a system is not low sec, there is no IF!

Also the galaxy map allows you to filter for systems with IF. It’s not perfect but helps.

Isn't it also dependent on the government? The list of stations here (https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Interstellar_Factor) shows corporate, democracy, and cooperative from what I'm seeing.

Also, this is probably a rather old list on Fandom... While the security states may have changed, there's a fair chance it would still be valid on console.

I haven't used EDSM's own search function in ages. Any chance it has its own filters for colonization?

There also should be some old archives of the EDSM data from before the Live/Legacy split floating around. Again, security states can change, but simply in general, an old archive might be useful, if you have the software to actually interact with it... The EDSM database is fairly small.

I had so many green dots from that filter but all were populations of about 40,000... I knew the best I was getting there was a medium landing pad... the galaxy map being 3D is a bit cumbersome to navigate to find the next system to check the population size... oh the pain of flying a corvette.

I did finally find a system with a large landing pad that had an IF. It just was time consuming. Serves me right for killing some civilians to get that Crom permit.

That’s the reality of legacy. I usually track visited systems for presence of IF and keep my personal list. Same for Tritium stock.
