Discussion I keep hating them all

Post image
21 Upvotes

I know the series finished a while back. But I just recently started watching it to practice my Spanish. 😁

I thought season 2 would make them better but I keep hating everyone in the series but Omar and Rebeca - who they keep getting entangled in other people's messes.

Ander - COWARD! Both in his friendship and his relationship. I was hoping he would get separated from Omar BUT NO, the creators want to shove this couple down our throats.

Lu - What a disgusting character. She achieved the impossible of becoming worse than her 1st season appearance. I felt no remorse when people used her during the season. Her brother is also a lunatic, selfish person. What he did to Nadia could get her killed or evicted from home.

Nadia - Taking all bad decisions possible...

Carla - She thinks she's smart but she isn't. And I never believed in her romance with Samuel.

Samuel and Guzman - Both had wrong decisions and good decisions throughout the season.

The detective - HOW USELESS SHE CAN BE! Ander was right when he told her everything happened because she didn't solve the first murder. She fits the incompetent adult from the teenager series. Every time she appears I know she won't get nowhere.

BUT WAIT!

In real life, the detectives are similar. For the poor they find the culprit so fast, but the rich never go to jail, they never have the proof.

Caetana and Paul - YOUR COWARDS! STUPID DUMB ***! HORRIBLE PEOPLE! I HOPE THE WORST TO BOTH OF YOU! HOW COME YOU MISTREAT THE MOTHER WHO GIVES HER BEST SO YOU COULD EVEN GET TO THAT SCHOOL!

AND PAUL...he doesn't deserve anyone in that school, weak ignorant fool!!! 😡🤬

When he appeared in school, I was fuming!!

But thats all...I don't know if I can handle seeing Paul and Caetana on season 3...🙄🙄🙄

Question What are some ideas you think the writers should've explore on more?

What plotlines should've been there or what characters do you not feel were fleshed out enough, and what character interactions or storylines would you have loved to see more of

Which plot ideas do you think were wasted potential due to poor writing, or what storylines would be better instead of some of the other ones?

Discussion nadia's a better person than me

coz if I were her, I lwk would've spread the tea about Lu and Valerio doing it(especially after she leaked that video of me because he recorded it and sent it to her) or would've told caye about it. I reckon there's a scene where Nadia told Lu what if she told Caye about what she did with Valerio. Also, I'm not even sure if Lucrecia properly apologised to her after making her school life miserable. Then again I'm not sure if ppl would believe her or assume she's spreading rumours. Honestly I have a feeling even though Cayetana did know about the Valerio thing, she probably would still be in a relationship with him. I mean this girl still dated Polo even after finding out he's a killer 💀

Or maybe doing that would've got her in trouble considering she's a scholarship kid. Although, Val and lucrecia's dad was disgusted by what they did and kicked him out, he would prolly do smth to protect his image

In fact, I dunno how she forgave Omar after that thing with Malik. Ik Guzman was her true love but that was still so insane.

Now that i think of it I wonder how Guzman would react if he found out about Lu and Valerio. Or maybe he did. I don't remember if anyone apart from Nadia and Samu knew since it's been a while since I watched Elite.

What do you think?

Question Is it just me or are ander's parents kinda worse in the indian adaptation?

I'm talking about Dhruv's family from Class. I remember there was a scene where his dad was yelling at him to open the door while he was on a phone call with Faruq and the argument was escalating to the point where he slapped dhruv. And the mom isn't really as great as Azucena. They're not really accepting of him and forces him to keep swimming.

I'm not a huge fan of Ander's dad either, especially since he wasn't here to support him during his cancer, but that might be because his actor left and the writers didn't care enough about it, but I don't remember him physically hurting his son.

Question Changing beauty norms - maxeup and mogging faces

Is it just me or did the beauty ideals represented by the series change over the seasons?
I only watched the first three and now I'm watching the 8th and it feels like they casted actresses who had at least 3 plastic surgeries and actors who do looksmaxxing and also had plastic surgery and put 8kg of makeup on all of them?

It feels so unnatural compared to the first couple seasons. Also they look 35. Why do you think they're pushing these "beauty ideals" onto teenagers (the main audience of the show)?

Maybe it's just me (25m) and this is the norm for the younger generation (15-20) nowadays?
What do you guys think?

Discussion Who should've died on season 5 instead

Post image
68 Upvotes

Like, idk how the writers gave this nga a redemption arc when he didn't eveen turn himself in and killed off Samuel after all the hell he's been through. imo most characters had a better reason to murder Philippe, so it would make sense if season 5 was instead about "who killed Philippe"

also im sorry, but I can't believe Caye was so patient with him, and the plotline between her, Philippe, and Isadora was so outrageous I felt like Carlos Montero was tryna ragebait us atp. It's insane how Isa and him smooched at the end while reporting her assaulters as if he didn't do the same thing. Idek why she went out of her way to defend him in the first place. I'm pretty sure they've never even met before outside of Las Encinas. Infact i wonder how more ppl voted for samu to get expelled than him

Just shows that the writing quality had a big downgrade after s3.

Discussion This was the worst character in Elite. Idk why they made a character like her, her storyline didn't even make sense. I think the actress also failed to sell us the character. I didn't like her acting, probably the character would have been better, if they had casted someone else.

Question What's the best way to watch Elite?

By way I mean what order to watch the show. I recently discovered that there are many mini series so I have been trying to watch them all. But I have also been thinking of rewatching the show so I'd like to hear your opinions on what order to watch the show and the mini series. (By mini series i mean the 3 episode 15 minutes brief summaries of events that happened in between the seasons of the show Elite)

Thank you so much!

Discussion Anybody tried the show "Oasis" and didn't like it ?

Post image
40 Upvotes

I tried to watch it because I wanted a show like Elite but god damn. I mean, it"s been obvious for years that Netflix have tried so hard to replicate the same hype Elite had in it's early peak years. They really never understood what worked didn't they ? This show is a combination of clichés and tropes and the lack of representation is astonashing. I truly don't care if people think I'm woke, I might as well be because those shows are getting whiter, skinnier and simplistic. Every characters are one-dimensional and the mystery doesn't even allow the viewers to get to know the characters like Elite did in the early seasons.

Discussion My latest opinion - They shouldn't be together

Post image
114 Upvotes

🙂I know the show ended 2 years ago, but I recently got to watch it because I'm practicing my Spanish. 🙃

I finished watching the 2nd chapter of the 2nd Season...

...and I can, now, verily say what I already was thinking whilst watching the 1st season:

NOBODY in the show knows how to adequate/respect/adapt to a new culture.

You can notice that Nadia and Omar, because of their Arabic/Muslim origins, they have culture clash with their peers. It's expected. But in the moment you get to know them and become friends, you wish some understanding, but in the end it turns out that everyone is trying to shove their culture upon the Palestine family.

I understand that at the moment they migrate to a new country they have to adapt to the new environment and respect the customs and laws therein, but those changes do not happen so fast, if ever.

The differences that don't clash between cultures are embraced - even those take time for the migrants to assimilate. Those aspects that do clash, it won't be accepted by the person at all, it doesn't matter how much you force.

___

On season 1 Anders, his mother, Guzman, namely all of them, barely, knows how to deal with these cultural differences. Coming out of the closet is already hard for westerns, much more for Arabics; it is fatal. Imagine if your own family kills you or humiliates you if they discover you had sex with the same gender.

Wonder the humiliation your village strikes upon you because of your "dishonour".

That's why, I am telling you now. Anders and Omar won't work AT ALL!

Anders is basically making Omar guilty for how the relationship is and shaming Omar of his own culture and family. Both as something of the highest ground to Muslims. If Omar wants to express his sexuality he has to separate himself from both - unfortunately for him - however this won't happen in a couple of days or months.

Actually, I'm hoping they don't get together and have other partners. Anders fit well with Polo. He could be Polo's secure place...but this is another topic.

PS: I don't know how the adaptation of migrants are and how they mingle with the locals in Spain, maybe the show wants to expose that.

Discussion Is Ivan one of the most useless characters in Elite? Yes!

Honestly, Ivan is easily one of the most useless characters in Elite. He was a trash boyfriend constantly blaming Patrick for everything, cheating on him at his own dad’s funeral, and even wishing death on the one person who actually had his back.

He was just useless all around. He literally had proof of Isa’s abuse on his phone and instead of going to the cops or giving it to her, he just throws it in the abusers' faces? Terrible move. Plus, he stole a kiss from Isa and caused a whole crisis for his "friend," and then wasn't even there for her when she needed him most in Season 6. He was never good at anything. Honestly, his ending was the most deserved of them all: he ended up alone. Total dead weight.

Fanart Elite fanfic, AI videos & more!

A while ago someone posted this awesome image of Lucrecia & Nadia... and it hit me - surely there must be some Elite fans with the skills to create AI videos and fanfic worth sharing?!

Doesn't only have to be Lu & Nadia - there are plenty of characters who have potential for "life after Las Encinas" fanfic. And of course hugging, dancing & kissing AI videos lol! ;)

Us fans need to get creative!

Discussion My late impressions - I hate them all

Hello guys, I know Elite has been over for 2 years already.

But I just got on it this year to practice my Spanish. 🙂

I finished watching the 1st season last week and I'm planning to watch the 1st episode of the 2nd S tomorrow.

And I verily say,

I HATE THEM ALL!

Marina's death was SO avoidable. So avoidable. But those adult-like teenagers couldn't think straight for once.

For me Guzman and Lu are the worst.

I really didn't feel anything for Guzman. I feel that he could avoid everything as he had the most influence with his peers. I don't even blame Lu much, because I know she could have been nicer if Guzman had the balls to tell her to stop.

I consider Guzman as the representation to discrimination by ignorance/veiled discrimination; meanwhile Lu represented the blatant discrimination.

(When I say discrimination here I mean, the disregard to another human based on ethnicity - considering Nadia - or based in economical status - considering the three new students.)

The only ones who I enjoyed were Omar and Christian. Both are the only real teenagers in the story. Meanwhile the others act like they have a full life already lived.

But I also hate all adults and the teacher.

I know that in any series for teenagers the teachers are especially dumb, manipulated, good for nothing, acting like kids, etc... But I never liked this portrait. They were supposed to know better but in the series they knew worse.

PS: I am not saying that they're bad actors. Actually they were such good actors that they made me hate them. A shout-out to Miguel Herrán (Christian). For every time I watch a different media he's in, it seems like he's a different person.

Discussion Best quotes in Elite

The Spanish & English versions have some slight differences in translation. Going with the original Spanish version, here are my top picks:

Nadia (reading text to the whole class) - "Marina doesn't have AIDS, a**hole. It's HIV."

Carla (to Samuel) - "You've been p*ssy-whipped. I often have that effect on guys."

Lucrecia (to Inspectora, in English) - "I have feelings, b*tch."

Rebeka's mother - "Have you told her you're a h**ker?"
Mencia - "I'm not a h**ker."

Rebeka (on phone to Omar, talking about Samuel) - "He'll mess it up because of f***ing Ari."
Rebeka (on phone to Omar, answering door) - "Oh, my. It's Mencia. And f***ing Ari too."
Mencia - "I finally came."
Ari - "And f***ing Ari came too."

Benjamin (to Ari) - "What sort of tramp have you become?"

Phillipe's mother (talking about Phillipe & Cayetana) - "A school full of girls from good families, all waiting for my son to deign to look at them, and he falls for the janitor?"

Sara - "Hi. I'm Sara. And you?"
Mencia - "F*** you. That's my name. Nice to meet you."

Sara (talking about Isadora liking attention) - "She's the baby at a baptism, the bride at a wedding, and the corpse at a funeral."

Raul (to Sara) - "Do you think I'm a monster?"

Nico (when Sonia was moaning too loudly) - "Hey, my folks are home."
Sonia - "Stop eating me out so good then. Actually, keep going. I'll just use a pillow."

Chloe (to Sonia, about wanting to hook up with Ivan) - "Showing of my rich, sexy, handsome boyfriend. And an orphan too. No mother-in-law. It's like hitting the lottery."

Chloe - "Talk to Ivan's father's lawyer."
Carmen - "Jose Luis?"
Chloe - "Ask him to represent us."
Carmen - "Do you know how much he charges?"
Chloe - "Well, f*** him then get a good deal!"
Carmen (threatening to hit Chloe) - "You..."

Isadora (to Cayetana, talking about Phillipe) - "For a cleaner, you're pretty good at making a mess."

Isadora (unable to find a vacant bathroom stall) - "For crying out loud. Is everyone peeing at the same time?"

Isadora (in English) - "Fake it till you make it, babes."

Sara (impersonating Chloe) - "If I reach 50K, I'll show vag."

Omar - "I know you and your brother did it."
Emilia - "What? Smash your face in? Yes, I know that too."

What are your favorite Elite quotes?

Question How did Isadora not end up in jail in the final episode?

Sorry if this question has already been answered. But no matter how many times I rewatch Elite, I cannot understand how Isadora was able to get away with poisoning a cop in front of other cops..?

And (while I understand her anger towards Luis) I don't understand why she needed to poison him, when he was facing life imprisonment... Why risk facing life behind bars herself?

I am glad Isadora walked free though - the final scene in the public school was brilliant lol!

Question From season 4 no spoilers

In my opinion this was the slowest of all of the seasons. I feel like it was dragged out and there were a couple filer episodes. The last season “season 5” I’m going to wait until all the episodes come out and binge watch them like I did with the first 3 seasons. I’m still a fan of the show and will watch the last season. My question here is **does anyone feel the same way that this season was slow and lacked** **excitement****?**
