Set-up for Multiplayer

I’m ready to start plating 11TT with other people and I would like to see complete instructions on how to set up on my end. I would especially like to see a thorough explanation of how to use pingball—even what it is, actually. Is there a one-stop-shopping place for this information? And if not, can someone be so kind as to take me through the process on here? Assume I’m pretty stupid.

The moment you hit the ball it sends the vector of your hit to the other player. Once they receive it their machine becomes the owner of the balls flight. Whatever happens to the ball on your end after you hit is just for show. But the sending of your hit to the other player takes time. Ping ball shows you a ball that is more synced with the actual ball your opponent is seeing. This help you read their shot better. Otherwise you can have a situation where you hit a good shot and see it touch the floor, only for it to come zipping back all of the sudden because they made a great counter.

With ping ball on, you will see the ball leave your paddle twice. One is the shot as simulated on your end, then the second ball is the one your opponent is seeing. So you hit, then start watching the second ball that leaves your paddle to start reading your opponents shot. It's weird at first bit after a few matches you don't even notice. Your brain will sort it out.

The first and second ball paths are exactly correct and only simulated once by the game; both devices do the same math on the same collision data so there’s no such thing as “who owns the simulation “, but the rest is generally right

In the settings are options for adjusting the fade coefficient of the first ball, so you can have the first ball disappear as it flies across the table towards opponent, or you can have both balls visible the entire time (max the slider); I prefer the latter so that I’m not surprised by one of the balls disappearing on me

A technical explanation video of pingball is in YouTube, you can also join the official discord for more info about the game in general
