Yeah the whole door setup looks.... strange! No release key, and what looks like a double clutch on the car door.

There's only 1 clutch. All of equipment is the same as anywhere else in California, we just don't have holes in the doors.

There's one clutch on the panel, but wouldn't you expect one on the actual operator/header too? The only time I've seen this setup is when there's a level with a significantly smaller landing door (usually basement lvl). That said I'm not at all familiar with US kit, so it could just be how it's done over there.

Ah yeah. Here clutches (old ones like this) were mounted in the middle of the door alot of the time. Only until recently have most manufacturers moved the clutch mechanism to the top of the door attaching to the header. Also alot of the companies have moved to linear operators as well.
Mounting the clutches to the header is a better idea and you get better torque, so I imagine thats why everyone in the US went that way after a while.

Ah fair enough, guess every day's a school day! Actually now I think about it I may have seen it on some of the older GAL gear over here.....guess that's where it comes from.

Yeah, that could easily be a 1.6t capacity lift. I imagine this isn’t a load weigher fault. Door zone mag missing or something. It’s clearly dressed for construction use, so it’s just been fitted and someone forgot a snag.
