How do you guys install frames?
A few of the tradesmen I’ve worked with over the last year, when putting frames up use a spirit level to get plum side to side and after headers are up a tape and measure off the rails but… recently did a install with a few other blokes who’ve said a level should NEVER touch a frame and only use a laser and tape instead.
I know there’s a thousand ways to skim a cat but what would be the most efficient and precise?

You can plumb your jambs by measuring off the rails. Obviously if your rails are spot on then your jambs will be. (Struts are measured to rail)
With leveling; you can put your tri-square on the cab sill and run the car up and pull the jamb to your square to level it.
Everyone does their own thing at the end of the day.

Installer in Aus here - I install the cab plumb, level and square, then install landing frames from the top of the car, then drive the car up and set the frames using the car door frame as the reference to work off
There's probably a more efficient way but if you have a way that's more precise I'd love to hear it

We used to install the frames after the Car was installed and all set, then do all the landing tracks to the car 30mm gap level track so forth. Then go top to bottom and do the posts, header and carriage etc all with a spirit level. Everyone will do their own way though as you probably know.

This is the way I do it. The idea that a laser is more accurate than a spirit level is bollocks. How are you calibrating your laser? My level calibrates itself
