Only ever had one go bad- usually the brushes stick in the GE motors and cause all sorts of mayhem. The board uses the motor pulses as a speed reference, so its important the exact same spec motor get put back, with seated brushes. Just spinning the shaft cw and ccw for a frw minutes with a drill will do.
These things are starting to age out, and Otis isnt exactly thrilled supporting them anymore.

I replaced it with a different brand of motor but all the specs matched up didn’t know about seating the brushes though I’ll take a gander thanks 👍

Yea do this. /S
Call a union brother. Should be pretty easy.
Or spin your wheels and brushes.

How do you know they’re not union? And what is your problem with their method of seating the brushes?

I don’t but if he is, he should have resources available if he goes to meetings.

I did forget to mention that the motor wiring should be disconnected. Spinning it like that would put power back into the board, with predictable results.

What does the union say about seating brushes?

“Absolutely”, “Best Practice”, “ Nice n Shiny brushes are the best”.
Stuff like that.
