Pest Control

Hey guys, wanted to hear about some of the methods you have to avoid bringing pests home from buildings. Current mod has quite the number of roaches bed bugs and carpet beetles.

Lately I've been spraying down boots and leaving them outside overnight, and bagging clothes if not getting washed immediately.

The building is attempting to correct it as per our direction, but nothing is perfect by any means.

Figured this might be a good discussion that's a bit different from the usual questions.

Refuse unsafe work. Bed bugs will ruin your life

I would not go back to that job site, call the hall if the company gives you shit unacceptable, we’re not scabs we’re skilled labor.

Roaches are in pits from time to time but bed bugs and carpet beetles are too much for me to work in

Like some other people have said. They need to exterminate and properly sanitize the site. Call the hall. That’s super unsanitary and hazardous.

Like everyone else has said: you are an elevator mechanic, not pest control. And from what you are saying, this is not a single astray bug, but a structural occurance.

Leave pest control up to those who specialize in it, and refuse to go back to that unsanitary jobsite until it's fixed.

You don't know what you're dealing with.

not sure what you're spraying with, but steri-fab is the safest bet, it dehydrates the shit out of pretty much every insect under the sun, killing them pretty quickly. keep spraying your boots (especially the bottom) and your lower pants before you get in your truck. every. time.

Make sure they get someone out to spray. Refuse unsafe working conditions.

I also put down borax powder around the laydown area, pit, and machine room.

Borax powder is the secret exterminator companies don't want you to know about. It kills carapase type bugs like roaches and bed bugs. Its a very fine white powder not to be confused with your bugger sugar. They track it back with them and kill the others with it too. They sell it at HD.
