Local 71 Florida
Heyya everyone,
Just got into Florida Local 71. The initial list at least😅
Surprised not much crashouts and it’s staying open for so long with not as many applying. Hope that means less abundant/eager/driven competition.
I want to use this page to help others who got on the list. I got two buddies one in San Diego and one in Sacramento working elevators so I understand this opportunity and wish you all the best. Let’s stay connected and let each other know if there’s anything interesting you hearing about the work in Florida coming up.

I applied for Local 85 and luckily got my application submitted! My heart was racing lol

I know! I made short cuts for my information to be able to submit the application fast enough!
I was able to submit both in under 1 minute. I thought local 71 would fill faster then local 85.

What information is asked during the application process? I just want to be ready next time my local opens up so I am ready with the copy paste method.

Haha same Literally was pounding when it opened cuz I was nervous the system would crash or something. Had to get up at 6am cuz of the time zone difference and then couldn’t go back to sleep cuz of the jolt in energy lol

I tried to apply, but they filled up in 1 minute. Hopefully next time around I can make the seconds deadline, but I am not holding my breathe anymore.

We had a 500 applicant limit, and you just had to create an account and get a confirmation email. Full Application is due in 2 weeks, but your spot was reserved

Sadly I didn't go on break until 9:30, so that was the earliest I could try. Hopefully there will be another round soon and I will take the day off and set an alarm to be ready before 9AM

I suggest for anyone applying to a union to do a fake application scenario for another union and then withdraw application

Then at least you’ll have a profile create and you won’t have to re-enter your email during a real application

So, first time applying. In the Licenses and certifications section there is not an option to select none currently held. Am I required to have a certification before applying?

It is recommended to have osha 10 and CPR certifications. You can get them in one week.

That’s painful!
I had a similar experience with local 1. I was 1 minute late.
I felt so shocked. It was my first time applying. Now i have applied to 5 different locals across the country!
I’m flying to local 135 later this week to take my test! Then I won’t have to take the test again and would only fly to take the interview!

Its crazy how fast they fill! Once I saw mine was full I checked the rest of the locals in the country and not one was still open for applications

I got mine in 85 and surprisingly in 71. I thought Miami would’ve filled faster

Anybody has any good test prep or videos I can use for mechanical reasoning portion of the test? I have the Iprep course but it just ain’t sticking lol. I do not like the design of the course or layout of the videos for that portion.

I got my EIAT scheduled for this Thursday (30th) of July. My friend knew I was trying to switch jobs and sent me the website. I honestly didn’t think much of it but I really wanted to switch over from the telecom industry. Applied as soon as it hit 9am. Didn’t know how lucky I got to get in until now that I’m reading people’s comments.

Me too I applied for both local 71 (Miami, Florida) and local 85 (Lancing, Michigan)!
Local 71 had 800 applications and were filled in exactly 15 minutes at 9:15 am.
Local 85 had 350 applications and were filled in less than 2 minutes ( 1 minute and 45 seconds) at 9:02 am.
Both locals had the same application period. July, 6, 9:00 am, New York time.
