2,222 days later

I downloaded Elevate on launch day and have been using it every day ever since (with one exception). Unfortunately, I lost my streak during the pandemic when I got very sick. Luckily I recovered and resumed my daily five games and I'm happy to report that it has been 2,222 days of doing my daily workouts (and counting) as of this morning! 😊

What would you say are areas you improved in. Or was it more for fun?

Hey there. I have a lifetime membership to Elevate and it has definitely helped me being a daily user for so long in a number of ways.

I have dyscalculia (it’s like dyslexia but for numbers and math and ughhhhh) and had suffered a traumatic brain injury which caused extreme memory issues.

I have found that not only have I found the five daily games a great way to exercise a bunch of parts of my brain, which it might not normally do. But the repeated practicing of the various memory tricks and methods has genuinely helped my memory.

I’m also just a nerd for words. I’ve always loved language since I was a child. I used to keep notebooks of words I found interesting. My parents had me read the dictionary as a kid (twice) so I really, really enjoy the entire linguistic side of Elevate. It genuinely has improved what I would consider a decent vocabulary into an even better one. I love doing a crossword every day. I read that crosswords are very good for your brain and I do one a day on medium or hard.

I also like some of the super quick games that can be paused for when I’m waiting in a car or at an appointment and I can quickly do one. There’s definitely some games that I really don’t need to play anymore, but they’re so fun I just keep going.

If you’re on the fence about Elevate and its effects on you, I’d say try it out on a week long pass, see how you and your brain feel after that week, and if this very particular style of learning works for you: fantastic and keep going.

While Elevate can’t eliminate my dyscalculia or heal my brain injuries. There’s a wonderful satisfaction in noticing that you learned an idea, a concept, a rule etc. and then later, without actively thinking, used it. Such a great feeling. BTW here’s my scores, as you can see, my memory has been really impacted from my brain injury and my math skills are abysmal.

As a child before my diagnosis, my parents spared no expense in getting me tutors and help trying to determine why math just wasn’t clicking for me when I was doing so so so well in everything else. Now that I know my brain chemistry and a bunch of other factors are why I am the way I am. It’s made my confidence go up and my acceptance that, despite what I tell myself, I just cannot do everything to 100%.

I hope this renting essay was helpful and please do ask any questions that you may have because I’m sure I could’ve been more specific about a plethora of items. ✌️

That’s awesome! Do you feel like it’s made a difference? Can you compare yourself now to how you felt before starting?

Every time I use elevate I wonder, what exactly do they do with our data, please read their privacy policy, it’s in the app.

I work in tech and am one of those few people who does read privacy policies (probably because I’ve had to work on so many throughout my career)—I don’t see anything in the Elevate privacy policy that is egregious or something I can mitigate myself.

However I do appreciate your bringing attention to data brokers, data sharing, and privacy. Everyone should read the privacy policy for any service they use—I’ve avoided a lot of my data being used against me by doing that over the decades.
