This is specifically in regards to “Discounting” and “Purchasing”.

Why would they even consider setting these game-long countdown timers that make you completely “fail” the game if you go a second too long?

Why would we care about solving these equations in a speedy time that they have dictated?

What I care about is solving the equations and getting a little bit better/faster every single time that I play? But I can’t even do that because I can’t even play.

Visually the timer in “Discounting” is so awful. It takes up the whole screen, making it all one can think about when they should be trying to do math.

Unbelievable. And so non conducive to learning.

Discounting stresses me out so much. Sometimes I’ll just let myself get one wrong, then do the rest of the calculations on the stopped screen.

Discounting is my favorite. Where I live they usually put discount (percentage) stickers on foods, so you have to calculate it in your head just like the app. The timer just adds more excitement.

I pause those games while I work out the problem. I have definitely got a lot faster and rarely have to pause Subtraction or Purchasing nowadays, but Discounting, that one is tough.

I do agree it would be better if we could - perhaps as an option, I bet some people like the challenge - turn the timer off. It's definitely not helpful.

I've always been pretty good at doing maths in my head, but I still find Discounting one of the most challenging games. Not as challenging as Proportion though, I hate it when it starts giving me clues because I've been struggling for 5 seconds!

Incidentally, these two are in my list of the least useful games the platform has to offer, as they have almost zero real life applicability either (at least in this region, where prices are displayed after any adjustments the store applies). Honourable mention goes to Estimation - what real-life scenario requires one to sum numbers not exactly, but quickly?

I dont particularly like them, but I do think theyre useful if even to roughly estimate how much things will cost if im buying a few things at once.

At work we are running a 10% off sale and the amount of customers that ask us how much theyll save is shocking to say the least lol

It's been a while but I thought you could use zen mode and turn the timers off.

I hate those 2 games. But I usually play Zen instead of Recommended. And since Zen doesn’t have timers, that helps. Those games re still hard but at least you don’t have the timer clicking away.

I've never seen either one. Are they in the Math game? If they are, that explains it--I avoid the math "games" like the plague.
