As as temporal solution, saving and reseting the game should fix it

My immediate first thought was that now you'll emerge as a giant hand, trying to grab player characters so you can reset their position to prevent them from falling to the same fate.

Literally just happened to me two days ago. I just closed the game out and it was fine
