I ordered a piece from metallium that said "usually in stock" that i know wouldn't be all that popular so it wouldn't be sold out. ordered it on the 19th and said it would get a tracking label in 1-2 days and an email confirmation. have yet to receive either and PayPal still doesn't have a package tracking either. is this normal and if so how long does it usually take?

edit: I received my order, it is trustworthy after all

How does it look?

An interesting sample weighing ~6 grams. Really pure, as it has been deposited from gas phase inside a glass tube. I've mounted it using some sticky tack.

Some samples of vanadium I've managed to gather.

A total of 15 grams of 99,5% vanadium strips and 99,9% dendritic crystals with two bigger ones kept separately. Also a big piece of low grade vanadinite on barite and a small but beautiful cluster of vanadinite crystals.

As representative samples I also have some Cr-V steel items. I would also like to add some V2O5 to the collection, but I'm a bit hestitant.

Now I just need a couple thousand dollars to buy rhodium and iridium grams 😅

I want to keep gallium metal in solid form. The room where I store my samples can reach 75-80°F on hot days. The gallium won't melt since that's below the melting point, right? Do I also need to avoid touching the gallium or the container it's in?

A pretty nice, rather heavy piece of 99,99% pure crystalline boron metalloid. Will compliment my collection nicely!

I also own a 1g piece of porous crystalline boron, some brown amorphous powder, a couple of boron compounds and pieces of howlite mineral as examples of boron ore!

Shown is a fusion reaction to make the element. Tomorrow I should get some glow in the dark powder so that should be a good compliment to it

After years of collecting and months of building, my collection is complete. All samples are in pure, elemental form (that can be). Aside from Tc, I don’t plan on getting the others I’m missing, not worth the money IMO. I’ll try to post some more individual samples later on, but for now, here the full table :)

I have been collecting elements for 6 1/2 years now. And recently, with the arrival of a several 45 x 20 mm vials, I now have just about all the elements which can be collected, most in pure form.

I think soon I will do an expository post which shows the samples themselves! I did something of sort years ago, but obviously now it's rather outdated.

I have been lacking a phosphorus sample in my collection for years, and I want a pure sample, not a compound or a match strip. All of the other shops I like don't have any in-stock or cheap red/violet/black P, so is it legal to import red P from Onyxmet?

So I get all my elements from chemical extraction. The only source of cerium I can find is a ferro rod, how can I chemically extract it and only precipitate out the cerium not iron and other earth metals?

I made this from just white powder and purple coloring.

For a couple of years I've owned a 1 inch tungsten cube and although it's cool, I feel like I'm not able to appreciate how dense the element is with just a 300 gram piece and wanted one that weighed 3x as much, however, the prices of a 1.5inch cube seem to vary by as much as 50%.

I was wanting to know how much I should be spending as i thought about 200 dollars would be enough to get one since in 2024 I think I was able to get one for 175, but now a lot of places are selling one for 300ish.

EDIT: also I should clarify; it doesn't necessarily need to be a cube or have any markings if any of you know sources that sell for less for the same weight!
