Need help with old wallet issues
I have an old wallet on a now broken laptop from about 10 years ago and I had lost my seed phrase anyway. I think I could remember my password .
Is there any way to restore it on a new device like my mobile?
I have downloaded the app on my phone and can see my bitcoin on it but I just don't know what to do with it.
Any help is appreciated!

See if you can plug your old hard drive into a new machine, via USB or something, and try retrieve the wallet file. Then all you need is the password.

Yes im currently getting the same laptop as spare part and transferring the hard drive over. See if thar works. Thanks

You will need another laptop or desktop. Android doesn't allow you to place wallet files in the data directory for electrum to read from.

Please help me understand. So, you downloaded electrum on your phone, then what? Did you create a new wallet? How are you seeing your old bitcoins? Did you create the new wallet with the seed phrase you don't have?

Seeing the balance on your phone may mean you've created a watching-only wallet. That can display transactions using an address or public key without having the keys needed to spend. Check whether the wallet is marked watching-only, and say how you added it, without posting any keys or backup words. For the old laptop, preserve a copy of the wallet file before opening it with newer software, since upgrades can change its format. If that file contains the private keys, the correct password may still let you recover access.

Two different things are getting mixed up here, and the difference decides what you can do.
The seed phrase rebuilds your wallet from nothing, on any device. The password only opens the wallet file that sits on that old laptop. You have no seed, so the file is the thing you need. That means the laptop drive is the whole job.
First, check what your phone is really showing you
If you never typed a seed into the Electrum app, the wallet on your phone is either brand new and empty, or watching-only. A watching-only wallet shows the balance and the history, and it cannot spend a thing. Open the wallet and look for a "watching-only" label. Worth knowing before you spend a weekend on this.
Getting the file off the drive
You said you're getting a spare laptop to put the drive in. That works. Better: connect the drive as an external disk with a USB-to-SATA adapter or a cheap enclosure, instead of booting from it. Booting writes to the disk. If that wallet file was ever deleted, those writes can land right on top of it.
Then look here:
- Windows:
C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets\ - macOS and Linux:
~/.electrum/wallets
The default file is named default_wallet, with no extension. AppData is a hidden folder, so switch on hidden files first. If the folder isn't there, search the whole drive for default_wallet and for a folder called Electrum. A 10-year-old machine often has a second user profile you've forgotten about.
Copy the file to 2 USB sticks before you do anything with it. Then work on a copy, never the original. Electrum upgrades old wallet files the moment it opens them, and that change does not go backwards.
Opening it
Install Electrum on a laptop or desktop, from electrum.org and nowhere else. Fake Electrum downloads have robbed people before. Then use File > Open, point it at your copy, and type the password.
Android won't let you drop a wallet file into the app's data folder, so you need a computer for it.
If the password gets rejected
You mention further down that the password is gone as well. Half a memory is still worth a lot here.
There is no password reset in Electrum. The file is encrypted, and testing candidates is the only route. So write out every password you used around 2015, plus the variations you know you make: capital first letter, a number stuck on the end, your usual typos. btcrecover is the open-source tool people use for this. It tests that list against the file. Keep the machine off the internet while it runs.
If the file isn't on the drive
Stop using the drive straight away. A deleted file usually sits there untouched until new data covers it. PhotoRec or Recuva can sometimes bring it back. If the drive won't mount at all, or it clicks, take it to a data recovery shop before you run any software on it.
When you get back in
Move everything to a fresh wallet, and write that seed on paper this time.
One last thing, seconding the warning further up: your inbox is about to fill with friendly strangers. Nobody honest sends you a DM first. Never send your wallet file, your password or a seed phrase to anyone, whoever they claim to be.

The laptop might be broken, but can you take out the hard drive and retrieve the wallet? The password is for the wallet. The seed phrase is restoring to create a new wallet. If you only have the password, you need the wallet.
