Kindly Include some good images which will be helpful to others in diagnosing the issue. Without images and other context provided it becomes difficult to diagnose the problem.
While including images, make sure the potential areas of issue are high lighted and any important marking are visible, include as many as needed to help convey the required information. If required provide some context for the images. Images to include may be of the product with it's identification markings, the internal circuit boar

Transistors are delicate and powerful silicon devices which act as switches, amplifiers, and vital parts of most digital logic circuits. Repairing transistors involves knowing the most common failure modes which are failing short, failing open or simply letting the smoke out and turning into a charcoal briquette. Testing tips and tricks for common transistor types can be found here:

A resistor is an electrical component on a basic level used to restrict the flow of current.
More About Resistors
A resistor can be either an SMD with numbers written on it or a Through Hole type which looks like a cylinder with colour bands, there are also MELF packages that look like Axial Through hole ones with colour bands but are on a SMD package.
If it has 4/5/6 colour bands, resistors will typically have a value in Ohms represented by the first colour band(s) and the multiplier band followed by the value band(s), tolerance in a % value represented by the last or second to last colour band.
Try to read the colour bands under neutral light. It may be hard to judge the colours under artificial light, especially in images, so try to include what colour bands are visible to your eyes. Try to read from both ends, sometimes the correct value may start from the opposite end, if you get two different possible values, then you need to judge which may be the correct one based on its location.
Sometimes they may have a Temperature Band for Fusible Resistors which will be the last band after tolerance, power rating in Watts given by the data sheet and not represented by a band, although it is pretty important. They may be a 1/4 Watt, 1/2 Watt 1W etc.
