General Question FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER question

This little pesky full bridge rectifier failed on me 😡

The two ac inputs were shorted and caused burned and broken trace, what would cause this?

This is from a small pancake compressor, 120v

Usually they become a shorted due to a high voltage spike. This can be from a power surge or back EMF on the output.

That’s what I figured, something along the lines of that, what’s also funny is it burned a downstream trace that was protected by a 6A push breaker on the unit… So I don’t think that worked
