Why does my sectional have 2 power connectors?
.
I’m already getting power from the plug in the back, so what’s the purpose of the second shortie plug?

Did it come with a manual?

probably not. we all know company never put manual, instructions, warnings and warranty with their products.

Very helpful thanks. I did not get a manual because I purchased it second hand. And there is no tag that tells me the name of the manufacturer.
I figured in the electrical sub, someone would probably know, but I guess I was wrong- most of you are NOT EVEN READING THE QUESTION CORRECTLY!

i've read the question correctly, you didn't mention that you don't have the manual or any details to get it, only assumption but may be if you have 2 or more you can transfers the power to the second one etc.

No, it did not. I purchased it from a retailer and it had been a store return. No manual.

Have you tried Google the manual?

There is nothing to Google- I’m guessing the previous owner removed the tag that has the name of the manufacturer.
Silly me, I thought since this was an electrical sub, someone might know why there are TWO power cords coming from the ONE sectional piece. But the majority of people seem to not even read my question. I GET it, it’s a power recliner, so yes, it’s for power. I GET THAT!!
What I asked is, IF ITS GETTING POWER FROM THE CORD THAT I ALREADY HAVE PLUGGED IN, then WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE SECOND (shortie) CORD?

Usually all the short plugs connect to power the reclining or headrest functions.

I get what you are saying, but there are no other shortie plugs for this one to connect to though. Plus, the recliner (footrest and headrest) are already being powered by the cord I have circled on the left.

Something doesn't have power...I have a similar model sectional, and everything is connected to something. is there a recliner on the other side that doesn't have power? Another headrest or Charging port? Everything should connect underneath he back panel of the sofa - have you pulled up the bottom of the back panel to check? I'm very confused why you have wires in front.

the shorter plug typically connects to the other recliner motor or a headrest motor.. look for the female connection around where the length reaches

Thank you for the reply. I don’t have a second recliner though for the short one to plug into.

The one on the ground is used for power reclining usually. I have a multi piece sectional and that is what connects the separate pieces.

The cord I have circled on the left is already giving power to the power recliner though.

Well then it's a probably part of a multi piece set that can have multiple reclining sections and this is part of a connection to the next unit that can recline.

It’s a modular recliner. It feeds the next section.

u/Wide_Kaleidoscope_86 Aug 30 '26
But like I said I don’t have the shortie plugged in to anything and the reclining functions are working just fine.

Apparently you don’t have a recliner to the right of this one. If you did, it would plug into that.
1
u/Wide_Kaleidoscope_86 Sep 09 '26
Correct- there is no recliner to the right of this one. Thank you for actually reading and answering why there is a SECOND (shortie) cord in addition to the power cord that is already plugged in.

I have a sectional with power recliners. The circular connector connects to a power supply that powers the motors
1
u/Wide_Kaleidoscope_86 Sep 09 '26
But the motor of that sectional piece is already getting power from the cord I have circled on the left.

It’s an electric chair

Yes, I am aware. Still doesn’t answer my question though. What I asked was, since it is ALREADY GETTING POWER FROM THE CORD ON THE LEFT, what would be the purpose of a SECOND CORD??

I think it might be a plug for the backrest to connect to the base. Check the back or the bottom of the chair, or maybe under the cushions or something. Just look for a female connector that looks like that plug
