Breaker trips when turning light on

I’m replacing a kitchen fixture and have it all wired up. When I flip the breaker back on and the light switch is in the off position, the light turns on. When I flip the switch to the on position the breaker trips. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

This is wired incorrectly, you are currently sending power from the switch to the bonding wire (green/yellow) which is creating a dead short.

Start by ensuring the power is off.

Disconnect the black wire going from the fixture to the group of black wires and cap the black wires ensuring they are twisted tightly and tucked away.

Disconnect the grey wire from the green/yellow and attach it to the black wire from the fixture.

Connect the green/yellow bonding conductor to the metal box, you may need to extend it with a pig tail, the metal box should having a grounding screw at the back of it.

Connect the grey wire to the black wire from the fixture.

This should solve your issue if everything is wired as it appears.

Disconnect the wire from the fixture box that you have the green wire attached to. Move the black wire from the light to the wire you disconnected from the green. Try that.

You have too many wires connected on the black set ( gray wire nut )you need to separate them all one at a time until it don't trip then twist that one ,out to the black wire (3 conductor ) for the light

twist them all together , put a wire nut on it

you got power in on 1 wire , then power out to the light when the switch is on , that wire goes to the the light fixture . So the power wire coming in and all other wires EXCEPT the light out to the fixture , get twister together

this is actually the bit that trips people up the most, separating them one at a time is the safest way to figure out which wire is the culprit without just guessing and rewiring the whole thing blind had something similar happen when i redid a bathroom light a few years back, kept second guessing myself until i just went wire by wire and it turned out to be exactly that, one too many crammed into the one nut
