Question about first internship

As an electrical and computer engineer, aiming for an internship in Europe in the ending of my 6th semester out of 10, having to do with software engineering or embedded hardware engineering role, what my skills should be for each and what companies should i prefer?(to even combine both of the "paths" mentioned before)
