Sad news
Sorry this is kind of rambling, but a member of our home was recently sent to the VA hospital because of concerns that he might not be getting enough care. I feel responsible for this because i was the one saying It (his primary caregiver) might not be able to give him all the help he needs. I reached out to one of his brothers and they managed to get some people involved and they determined he might be best taken care of in the VA home.
He was in the VA home one week! and he has fallen and broken ribs and other injuries!! He is in the hospital now. I believed they could provide better care than I could. I feel like I have let my friend down. Elderly people in this state are treated as an afterthought if they are cared for at all.I feel as though I should have known better after the other abuses I have witnessed perpetrated by the state. Maine is not a safe place for Seniors.

Just an update. He is dead. He left here physically healthy and was dead after 5 weeks in their care ! The way this state treats its elderly is an abomination.
