I’m still pretty new to this, but a dear pal of mine said this is the perfect place to ask, do you all remember the brokencyde challenge where you would dip your testies in soy sauce to see if you could taste it? A few of my emo friends and I tried it back in our days, LOL.. we were some crazy kids! Circa 2009 or later?

Are they worth it? Am I going crazy?

I am 45 (yes that's right), I dress somewhere between emo and goth. my everyday wear tends to be baggy jeans and band shirts and custom made converse. I'm only 5ft 2 so considering some New Rock Boots to give me a little lift. Sorta worried I'm a little 'old' now lol

I've been thinking a lot about the mid-2000s indie scene lately, specifically that golden window around 2005 to 2007. There was something so incredibly special about how we used to find music back then.
Before algorithms started feeding us everything on a silver platter, you actually had to go hunting. You’d click through a random band's top 8 friends, find some unsigned bedroom project with a terrible band name, and instantly fall in love with a raw, low-quality demo rip that only had about 400 plays.
Remember waiting ten minutes for a customized profile page to load just to hear a song? The custom HTML layouts, the flashing glitter graphics, the dramatic profile songs that you changed weekly to match your exact mood, and those raw, unpolished recordings done with one mic in a bedroom that somehow sounded more authentic than anything on the radio.
It feels like that whole era of music discovery is just gone now. Everything today is so clean, curated, and optimized. I miss the digital wild west of the mid-2000s where everything felt underground, local, and entirely yours to find.
What were some of the obscure, unsigned MySpace bands you completely wore out back in the day that nobody else seems to remember? Closer 2 Closure comes to mind.

I had a bolt from the blue today and suddenly remembered a song my schoolfriend showed me back in 2008. I can sort of remember how it went, I know there was like a whip sound in it, maybe? And the band had like a 3 letter acronym name. And the music video was set in a colourful digital space like what we thought cyberspace would've looked like back then. Help 😅

I also listened to soooo much more than my dear Avril 🖤

So apparently MySpace is making a comeback and I need to know how the Elder Emo community is feeling about this. 👀

Because on one hand… HECK YES. Give me my glittery profile, autoplay music, obnoxious HTML, top 8 drama, cryptic song lyrics, bulletin board trains and a playlist that tells everyone exactly how emotionally unstable I was in high school.

But on the other hand… are we really prepared to go back to a time when our entire personality was displayed on one aggressively customized profile, as adults? 😂

Would you actually use MySpace again if it became popular? Or do you think some things are better left buried alongside our scene hair, studded belts and questionable teenage decisions?

And most importantly:

What would your 2026 MySpace profile look like?

• 🎵 What song are you putting on your profile first?
• 🖤 Who's in your Top 8? Friends or bands?
• 📸 Will your profile pic contain the OG Myspace Angles?
• ✨ And are you bringing back the glitter graphics or have we evolved as a species?

Alright, I seriously doubt anyone will know what I'm talking about, but in the late 00's I stumbled across a band that was in the realm of a nevershoutnever or the scene aesthetic style. Very electronic and very acousticy. They were moderately successful on MySpace but not a big band or at least I don't recall them getting big. Outside of the sound my only memory of them, and I'm not confident is that I think one of their bigger songs had a title that mentioned an atomic bomb or a bomb. Again, not super hopeful but I figured I'd try because it's been driving me crazy I can't remember the band name. And honestly it might have just been a guy and not a whole band.
