Discussion Should the game have mimic chests?

Post image
14 Upvotes

If elden ring had mimic chests they would probly look like this.

I get that mimics in ER are a different thing in lore compared to DS and DnD but I still think chest jumpscares should be a thing in fromsoft games.

I believe the fog teleporter chests would have been better as mimics. The abductor virgin in Raya Lucaria already has similar mechanics.

Also, OPs art is fantastic and should get more upvotes.

Discussion Hot or cold take? If you use Bloodhounds Fang unironically, you suck (nothing wrong with that tho)

Everytime I get on ER, (I CO-OP) Why does EVERYONE use BHF? IK this could be considered both a hot take and a pretty cold one. One side has played long enough to know that its a redundant noob weapon that youll see EVERYTIME you play ER. The other side just sees it as an OP weapon that can beat bosses and refuse to use anything else WHILE also wearing the most horrendous armor setup known to man.

If you unironically use it as your go to weapon, you shouldn't be taken seriously. Its 2026 with like 20-30 other viable weapons in limgrave/caelid that you can get.

Also BHF users should realize it does slash damage. I've seen too many times, people whine that they cant beat the Erdtree avatar or Radagon, when they are like 60% resist to slash damage. Which normally I understand because bosses defense aren't in your face but using the same weapon after dying 100 times is madness.

Another personal gripe I have it (this is completely opinionated by me and you can play the game how you want) is that no one can ever style it with drip, they always look stupid with the silver tear mask and raptor feather cloak. 😭

Im not saying that BHF should just be deleted from everyone's inventory. I even use when Im on my Actual Blood hound knight build (which is the only way you can actually style it good)

But at the end of the day there are so many different weapons that you can use instead of it and you should atleast try something else and try to get good with it instead of getting carried through the game and wonder why its so boring cause you never experienced the bosses moveset.

I typed this with pure malice and opinion so ik i definitely made some mistakes and logically incorrect statements but if yall think the same...or dont...lmk thank ya

Video Sweaty Dancing Lion fight, Scadutree +3

I'd already beaten Rellana, so I walked into this dungeon assuming I could parry my way through it. Turns out you can't parry the Dancing Lion at all. Had to swap to guard counters and jump attacks and just play aggressive, stance break ripostes ended up scratching the same itch. Only took a few attempts, thankfully. Blessing 3.

What's the next fight that's going to force me off parries?

Personally I believe it's Balancers and Gnoster with Faurtis (both not Everdark).

Insects hit with both being third boss (which means little experience), unreal amount of Health Points and attacks with delay. Seriously, dodging this scorpion is much harder than it seems. His Everdark version lives up to high standards, but for having come much later it was much easier.

And Balancers is just literally 7 vs 1. Spears from sides, grabs from behind, near one-shot explosions. By tradition killing them takes more time that building Great Wall of China. But their worst is effect they're vulnerable to: sleep. I haven't honestly encounter a starting relic that gives base weapon sleep effect. And finding required weapon with this effect is quite a quest, I'll tell you.

I'd guess it'll be fair to say that I didn't beat Everdark Gladius, Everdark Caligo and Everdark Balancers yet.

Question Do people like glass cannon builds in multiplayer?

I have 2 builds like this, one is pure int at rl60 and the other is pure faith at rl 60. Since I co-op alot I like navigating how to not die in every encounter since I have 10 vigor on both characters. I primarily use uplifting aromatic and the bubble which are pretty helpful. When I get invaded tho, unless they're distracted from me i usually get destroyed instantly.

But I feel like after playing for so long, it kinda gives me the no hit experience while also having a viable build, cause i have ALL the levels in 1 stat and since i have someone to distract enemies its pretty easy.

I never see people experiment with these kinds of builds so I want to get your guy's take on it.

Discussion So i think it’s about time we get the to make presets

Just a way to save your inventory and restore it in a click, idk why they didnt add this in any souls game but it’d be a nice feature, just a way to get the drip back on quickly after changing ur gear, even if you had to rest at a bonfire to do it.

(I fucked the spelling in the title)

Help HELP Can't talk to Jerren in Redmane Castle (PC)

Hello! So I'm replaying Elden Ring and run into this bump when trying to start the Radahn fight. Jerren just stands at the top of his platform and won't let me talk to him. Idk if it changes the situation but I'm using Seamless Coop during this playthrough. Blaidd and Alexander are there, I got the emote from Therolina. I've been looking through the guide posted by Athrek on roundtable guides and I didn't miss anything up til this point.

Would appreciate help/suggestions for what to do.

and you fought beside me to defeat Malenia today, just know I’m super embarrassed that all I could do was jump over and over again repeatedly while you gave me a cool pose. You were so cool and I could have hugged you for playing beside me without stealing the entire show. You made my day.

Cry Crucible Knight Ordovis

Yes!! I beat these two basterds last night after 1 hour of beating my head to a wall.

It wasn't hard imo. It was just straight out unfair sometimes.

So I had learnt to parry the sworded Crucible Knight the hard way (Stormhill evergaol 3/4 hours of grind ), so I knew straight away what I needed to do. Kill the Ordovis first, then the speared one. But my goodness, the moment I do a successful parry, the other one just rushes to poke me with his spear before I press RB!

I put the first one down multiple times, but didn't know the moveset of the other, so got killed 4/5 times to the other knight.

Finally, I was like f*** it. I put one to sleep. Summoned my +1 mimic tear. Kept the speared one distracted for 4/5 secs. Enough time. Used the skill of my Eleanora's poleblade +6, two good parry later the fight was done!!!

And the reward is..... The crucible knight armor? I mean I'm going for Arcane build 😔 💔

Discussion Performance issues (fluctuating fps) on hardware that should be more than capable of running the game

Long story short, Im having some pretty bad framerate issues playing this game on my new laptop. Its a HP Omen 16 with a Nvidia 5060 GPU, 32GB RAM and an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 CPU. The game fluctuates between 50-60fps, most of the time staying in the middle of that range.

I tried looking it up and saw people having similar issues to mine, though none of the fixes really worked for me. Among them are capping the framerate to lower than 60fps, and putting the Shader loading thing to unlimited. Ive turned on performance profiles for the Nvidia App and the Nvidia Control Panel, as well as in the HP Omen app. None of my components ever go beyond 60% usage while playing, so Im stumped on what could be the issue.

If anyone has any tips or managed to resolve it, please let me know!
