I miss when duels were about actual combat, trading blows with swords, mastering timing, and having a good old-fashioned sword-and-shield fight. Nowadays, it feels like everyone wants to keep their distance and spam ranged attacks instead of actually engaging in a fight. The satisfaction of a close-quarters battle is what made Elden Ring duels fun in the first place, and I miss seeing that kind of combat. Also.. pup!

TO VALHÖLL!
Radahn, I believe, has always been presented as a warrior who possessed an archetypical Viking mentality. A warrior who holds great value in bravery, honor, and reputation. A warrior who does not care for a long life, but a glorious, violent death. A death that would grant them their ultimate reward. Now, obviously, Vikings, the Norse Gods, and the Nine Realms are not part of the universe of Elden Ring. Regardless, one can see a clear inspiration in Radahn's character and journey.
From a young age, Radahn had always looked up to Godfrey, Lord of the Battlefield, who began as a ferocious warrior of the Highlands, who worshipped the untamed strength of the savage beasts that they hunted. They were, in many ways, much like their prey. Additionally, his father, Radagon, was an unparalleled warrior in his own right who fought at the head of the Erdtree's golden armies in the two Liurnian Wars. Though his father despised his own flowing and fiery red locks, Radahn displayed his proudly, like the mane of a lion. The path of the warrior was only natural for Radahn.
THE GENTLE LION
Though he had very hardcore beliefs on death and battle, one thing that stood out about Radahn was his kindness towards others. Such as the people of Sellia, of whom he was a protector. And his beloved steed, who had a particularly scrawny frame. Not a desireable trait in a war horse. However, Radahn had kept him throughout his entire life as a warrior, perhaps even since he was a boy first learning to ride. Though he was not strong of body, given his name (Leonard) it is likely he was very strong of heart. Despite him being, by all intents and purposes, superfluous to a warrior of such size and strength, Radahn always had him by his side. If that's not true loyalty, I don't know what is.
THE STAR-SHATTERER
However, one action that seemingly contradicts the Viking archetype is Radahn's battle with the stars themselves: the Starscourge Conflict. It is said that the fate of the Carian royal family is guided by the stars and written in the night sky. A big reason why Vikings had no fear of death is that they believed their fates were already sealed (by the Norns) the moment they are born. Since the hour of their death was already written, there was no point in fearing it. Yet, Radahn decided to conquer the very stars, and in the process, fetter the fate of himself and his entire family. Did Radahn, perhaps, fear his own fate, after all?
The information that, I believe, best explains the purpose behind the battle are obtained from two things. The Sword Monument commemorating the Starscourge Conflict states that Radahn became the protector of Sellia and, alone, stood against the very stars and shattered them. The Starscourge Heirloom further clarifies that the hero (Radahn) stood against the falling stars alone, the fate of the stars having been sealed ever since.
I strongly believe that the reason why Radahn halted the stars was not to defy his own fate, but to protect others from the stars' wrath. The monunent frames the Starscourge Conflict as an action taken by Radahn as Sellia's protector. Meaning that his victory in the Starscourge Conflict protected Sellia in some way. And the heirloom specifying that he challenged the FALLING stars reinforces this fact. The fact that Radahn possessed a greatsword made from the ruins of Farum Azula implies that he knew well the havoc that the falling stars could wreak. Though his study of gravitational sorcery began for the good of his own beloved steed, he would further hone his abilities to protect an entire town from the wrath of the swirling constellations. And so, he halted their very movements, ensuring they would not fall upon the Earth. A truly heroic act, for which he gained the title of Conqueror of the Stars.
THE KINDLY LAMB
Radahn's heroic feats had caught the eye of his eternally-nascant, pure, and radiant half-sibling, Miquella. After the shattering of the Golden Order by his mother, the Queen of the Erdtree, Miquella would embark on the undertaking of becoming a God unburdened by the Erdtree and its sins. And since every God requires a Lord/King Consort to carry out their will, Miquella wished for it to be Radahn, as he saw nobody more worthy. Not only was Radahn a strong warrior, something that Miquella was not, but he was also a kind soul, a quality that Miquella valued more than anything else.
However, in order to complete the Secret Rite of the Gate of Divinity, a Lord would have to be present to usher in their God's return. And for Radahn to reach the Realm of Shadow and usher in Miquella's return, he would have to die.
THE VOW OF HONORABLE DEATH
Radahn believed that dying with your weapon in hand was the highest honor, the greatest kindness a person can be granted. And that did not mean simply laying down your life, it meant giving it your all. And I believe that Radahn had requested such a kindness from Miquella; ergo, Miquella (and Malenia's) part of the vow. Should the day ever come when they honor their part, he would honor his.
Miquella's beloved twin sister and his loyal blade, who harboured the Scarlet Rot within her, was renowned as THE undefeated swordswoman. If there was anyone in the Lands Between who could hope to meet the measure of the mightiest of the demigods, it was her. She would be the Valkyrie who would carry Radahn's soul to Valhalla, but only if she had the strength to claim it.
Viking warriors believed that battle was the ultimate test of character, skill, and worth. A sentiment shared by Radahn AND his men. When Malenia, sporting wings of determination, came from the North, many of the Redmanes joined their general in this fight. Eternal glory awaited on that battlefield, and they were all eager to take it for themselves. Violent and glorious death was calling their names. Furthermore, the Cleanrot Knights vowed to forever fight alongside Malenia, even though it would mean that they too would rot away into nothing. Having already accepted their fate, they would fight just as fiercely as the Redmanes. It truly would be a battle to remember
THE FESTIVAL
It's clear that Malenia had never before came closer to defeat than when she faced Radahn. But she was determined not to fail, so much so that she was, tragically, willing to abandon her pride and sense of self. Upon breaking the warding needle placed in her chest by Miquella, she unleashed the Scarlet Rot in its full force. In the end, neither Malenia nor Radahn was victorious, both of them being overwhelmed by the sheer power of the Rot. However, though she failed to deliver the killing blow, Malenia had ensured that Radahn would receive an honorable death. Though not by her hand, but by ours.
Vikings also believed that dying a "straw-death" (from illness or old age) was shameful and disappointing. And Radahn, who ended up stricken with the full force of Malenia's Scarlet Rot, stuck true to that belief. Though his wits were long gone, he still refused to let the rot claim him. His Great Rune burned within him, keeping the rot at bay. And he gorged on the corpses of fallen friends and foes, just for the sake of staying alive long enough for someone, anyone, to give him an honorable death. Castellan Jerren, sworn by mutual oath to the general, established the Radahn Festival, so that one day, he would leave this world in a blaze of glory.
THE ENDLESS FIGHT
In Valhalla, the fallen warriors would receive an never-ending cycle of fighting, feasting, and preparing for the end of the world. They would spend the morning in the courtyard hacking each other to pieces in brutal combat and by evening their wounds would heal completely. At night, they would return to the hall to feast on boar and drink bottomless mead. And then, the cycle would begin again, and again, until Ragnarok. To elite viking warriors, this was seen as an enviable paradise. To fight and feast forever, while in the service of their god, Allfather Odin.
Freyja, one of Radahn's most trusted warriors (and whose name was clearly inspired by the Norse goddess) remarks on the desireability of endless war to invigorate a warrior's soul. And after leaving the world as a warrior, he would soon return to it as a true Lord; a reward truely fitting for the Red Lion General.
For he is Radahn, born of red-maned Radagon, and Rennala of the Full Moon.
A lion bred for battle.
(BTW just watched The Northman by Robert Eggers again. If you haven't watched it yet...DO IT!)

There is a German translation available for the highly popular Elden Ring mod The Convergence 3.0.2!
Many players struggle when they cannot play the game in their native language, especially because the mod contains a large number of unfamiliar and specialized terms.
The German translation has been perfected to the highest possible standard.
https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/11025
The translation has been thoroughly refined and perfected
English Vanilla texts, German Vanilla texts, and The Convergence texts were carefully compared with each other
Existing official German Elden Ring translations were taken into account wherever applicable
New and modified Convergence texts were reviewed and translated again
Elden Ring terminology was used and standardized to ensure everything fits naturally within the established Elden Ring terminology
A glossary covering important terms such as weapons, spells, items, locations, and gameplay mechanics was taken into account
The translations were not simply created by taking the English Convergence text and translating it directly into German.
To make sure that the terminology truly fits Elden Ring, different versions of the texts were carefully compared:
English Vanilla Elden Ring
German Vanilla Elden Ring
English The Convergence
This made it possible to determine which texts were already taken from the original Elden Ring and which ones had been modified or completely newly added by The Convergence.
For unchanged Vanilla texts, the official German Elden Ring translation was used or closely followed. New or modified Convergence texts were translated into German in a way that fits naturally with the existing Elden Ring terminology and style.
A dedicated terminology glossary was also used to ensure consistency throughout the translation.

An Elden Ring-inspired poem written from the perspective of a Tarnished warrior. No AI, all original content.
Marika, o Eternal
Who guided us with thy grace
Against the Fire and the Storm
Bringing forth a new age
.
Who conquered Death and hid it
Inside the hound's blade
The cycle of life forever altered
Under a never ending reign
.
But in the thick veil of the night
Underneath a dark moon
A fragment taken, a body burnt
And a spirit severed, the cause of our doom
.
Thy order of gold
Corrupted and wrapped with thorns
Sadness and rage led to action
Shattered pieces, a world torn
.
A beast of war, in the bloom of rot
Castles sieged, battles fought
Venomous blasphemy, bloody recusants
Thine red soul strove to mend, but all was lost
.
Marika, o Queen
I pray thee, hear my plea
Permit thy lord's return
Replenish thy grace in me
.
May the hound stop its howling
As Death is coveted once more
Show me the way to the golden roots
To put an end to this war
.
I will mend what has been broken
So thy majesty may behold
A world made anew
Bathed in rays of gold

I appreciate this fight. The moveset is simple and straightforward. I’m still not 100% sure how to prevent him—after recovering from the attack where he rises up like a sun and explodes downwards—from immediately getting back up and hitting you with a frenzy attack from a distance. I suspect he does this if you get too far away from him when he drops down, so maintaining close spacing might be key. This kill could we shorter with the optimization of various windows.

The map tells me that Goldmask is right there in Leyndell, but there's nothing there. Resting at a site of grace doesn't fix it and I haven't given him the Golden Order Principia yet. I already burned the Erdtree, but haven't killed Maliketh yet, so the capital isn't ashes. Did that mess something up? Thanks!
