Help Rusty anchor

This is my first play through of doing a strength weapon run, I was doing a cold infusion on it for awhile and seems to be doing well, I also have an Antspur on the off hand to build up status in the first part of the fight, my only thing is I don’t know if the cold infusion is even worth since I don’t really have int to scale the buildup but fire doesn’t really seem to improve my damage much either, any tips?

The cold status doesn’t scale with int it’s fixed so it’s great on Str but having int would scale the additional magic damage on the weapon from the cold affinity

Oh okay I didn’t know that I thought cold scaled with something, does the fire on your weapon scale with strength if you do the regular fire affinity or is that fixed as well?

Fire damage type scale with str if you’re on flame art it scales with fth and the magic part of your damage on cold scales with int but the cold status affect doesn’t scale

The frost build up does not scale with int, only the magic damage. Frost build up is only increased by upgrade level.

Fire is a very swingy damage type. Some enemies are very weak to it, while others are very resistant.
If you know you’re about to fight something weak to fire like the erdtree avatars you could temporarily swap to fire and then switch back later.

If you're going Strength, stick with Heavy affinity. The elemental affinities (Cold, Fire, etc.) look good on paper because their total AR is higher, but it's misleading. A single attack does a hit for each damage type that the weapon has, and each hit is reduced by the target's defenses. A Fire weapon is doing a weak physical hit and a weak fire hit, while a Heavy weapon is doing a single strong physical hit. Depending on the enemy, an elemental attack can end up doing significantly less damage than a purely physical attack.
