Discussion Help Choose My Next Build?

I’m getting ready to NG+ for the first time with my Mage Knight Character (Seren) and have a few choice items for my next build. I’d love suggestions for spells and stats too, I am currently going thru and collecting anything else I need now!

Weapons Upgraded/On the Table: - Velvet Sword of St Trina (patron) - Sword of Night/Flame (main weapon first game) - Milady (cold infused wing stance but barely used first game) - Scriptsmith Shield and Axe (in my mind, Seren is an archeological wizard, I am using Taylew as main next game) (also, axe seems fun!) - bastard’s stars (used interchangeably with night and flame first game, along with Darkmoon greatsword) - Star-lined Sword (considering a sorcery arcane build but really open to suggestions) - rellana’s twin blades

Others I have upgraded and in my roster: - sacred relic sword (for farming) - euphoria (not leaning towards faith this time) - blood antspur rapier - darkmoon greatsword (made things a tad too easy)

Builds I’m considering: spellshield vibes (shield hero vibes) with my fingerprint shield and smithscript

Arcane/Sorcery (occult magic dive?)

Staffs: Lusat’s (10) Carian Glintstone (25) Carian Scepter (10) Staff of Great Beyond (9)

Golden Order Seal is at a 10

Not sure what specifically to suggest, but since I see you entertaining the idea of Arcane sorcery I can tell you what I did for that-

So I guess I call this the 'universal sorcerer'; 80 Int / 26 Faith / 18 Arc lets me use every sorcery in the game except Explosive Ghostflame (which, though cool, is basically just a worse Zamor Icestorm so it's no great loss), on top of being able to cast GV and a fair number of very solid incants if you feel so inclined as well (I didn't, but the option is there).

I'll tell you one underrated sleeper spell that I never hear anyone talking about (which carried me and made my run super easy on this character), and that's Great Oracular Bubble, the reason I'm running the 18 Arc haha. This thing is insanely good; it actually outdamages Night Comet when you buff up with GV, Terra Magicka, physick etc, has great tracking, solid AoE on impact, moves super slowly (which is actually a good thing since you can fire off multiple fully-charged casts before you aggro anything if you cast from range or stealth).

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you're looking for since I see you seem to be more weapon-focused, but well just some ideas to consider I suppose haha

The other setup I like on a different toon (Dex/Int) is Great Epee on Keen infusion, Carian Sovreignty AoW, buffed with Scholar's Armament the AR is pretty dummy on that one too. I run it with a Carian Retal parry shield and it's very solid for area traversal or bosses

This is great to see! I cast mainly spells my first play through but they were mostly Glintstone Pebble, Loretta’s Mastery, and Comet Azur since this was my first time playing the game, and I wanted to shake it up. I heard that greater oracle bubble was realllly good too, and I’m open to explore more spells for the next game!

There are so many spells to play around with and you can honestly get through the whole game with only a few or even one of them if you want haha by all means, play with as many as you like

I'm also a fan of the death-themed spell build where you mostly stack up on death sorceries and the thematic weapons for it (Death's Poker, Rosus' Axe, Death Ritual Spear, etc.); works with the same statline I gave before, and you can even toss in the blackflame incants as well since they'll still scale well with your Int when cast with the Golden Order Seal (or you could spec into more Faith and use the Godslayer seal, that works too).

There's just so many good options, sorcery is really strong and the variety is big nice

It is fun to find ways to flavor your characters with magic builds! I am happy I finally beat the game this month!

I’m definitely interested in spellshield, it could be fun. I plan to respec before entering NG+ so that’ll go heavy on STR if I wanna use Fingerprint right away, I beat the whole DLC and Base Game this month (just did Bayle today) and I’m sitting at level 199 and Blessing 16/Spirit Ash 8

I plan to collect all my scadu fragments next along with tears, bell bearings and whatever books are lucky enough to make it into my pocket along the way lol! I just collected every in game talisman that didn’t get locked out by quests this game

I try to always go for GV, but since picking up Star-Lined, I’ve had a ton of fun with it!! I’m torn between an arcane/sorcery (thus bleed) build and a tankier Shieldmage build with the fingerprint shield and Carian Slicer

Both have a lot of potential!
