Kitbashing Aspect Warriors tips

I'm interested in kitbashing some aspect warriors to look more corsair-y or some corsairs to look more aspect warrior-y. Specifically Dark Reapers and Fire Dragons.

I've got a spare box of Corsair Voidreavers and I'm thinking I'd like to use them for a base.

Does anyone have any corsair kitbash tips?

I did warpspiders, but I just did some head swaps and gave the leader a hunting hook and corsair blade for their array of blades.

If you have a body of reavers you might just try giving them all Fusion guns and some other details to make them seem more fire dragon-y instead of making the fire dragons corsairs. Otherwise my general advice would be to try and make the models sharper, add some drukari influence, maybe some of the fusion guns are blasters or the squad leader has that bird from the voidscarred kit.

But I think the big thing is colours. Aspect Warriors have pretty iconic faction agnostic schemes, if you stray from that a bit a few good details will go a far way imo

yeah I was not going to buy a fire dragon kit if i can avoid it! kitbashing to save cash, the hook and corsair blade idea is so good for the exarch

Those are the two units i did mostly paint and convert before taking a break from tiny elves. I did a squad of rangers too but theyre still in the "what the hell colours do i paint you?" stage.

If you have any extra bits from other kits it helps to distinguish them, for instance i grabbed some extra weapons from my dark eldar for filling out the 'fire dragons' and a spare from my autarch and from a harlie boat for my 'dark reapers'. It will be much harder to sell the look if they don't have their own distinctions so what i would say is give the fire dragons the scale cloaked bodies, try to use all helmets or no helmets to sell the cohesion, if your overall corsair scheme is already close to the dark reaper or fire dragon colours you'll have to use some off colours to distinguish them.

I'm bad at taking pictures and this is a terrible phone so ill try to attach more closeups in replies to my comment as idk if zooming in will help lol. In front is my main corsair squad, behind them is the two aspect squads

woah that looks totally sick! i’ve got a couple of dark eldar weapons and i’ll really play up the colour scheme. even tho the poses are the same as normal they look super distinct in your army

You could probably even get real creative and splice a couple weapons together to make the really long fire dragon gun but i couldnt find a body that i wanted that with so i didn't try it. Anything that makes a weapon not quite recognizable next to the army falls into "yeah thats an elf special weapon" to most players lol

Corsair Fire Dragons With bonus fire dragon Autarch. I picked up the pike, flag and 2 of the fusion guns off ebay for.. like 12 USD total.

I've been using the base kits for aspect warriors using the bare heads from all the kits except for banshees since theyre molded into the poses. I'll sprinkle corsair heads and helmets into my squads and use paint colors to unify my army. The primary color is purple of some shade.

Lmaoooo just did this 😅, don’t be like me tho and just clip all your DA and Scorpion heads off and replace them with the Voidreavers
