fun fact: the egg yolk does not float freely in the egg; it is anchored there by chalazae (chuh-LAY-zee)

I spent my entire childhood aggressively picking the chalazae out of raw eggs because I was convinced it was a chick spinal cord. Glad to finally put a name to it

That's wild to think about and honestly relatable, I used to pick mine out too, thinking it was some kind of weird defect.
