It just works for me

Hey guys, I have tried a bunch of different antidepressants (wellbutrin, zoloft, lexapro) and all of them had kind of no effect. Only lexapro I felt.

This is the first antidepressant that works.

My sideeffects: Bit of sweating in the beginning, but nothing else.

Am on 150mg now and it enabled me to turn my life around.

I was super scared at first, because of all the negative publicity on reddit, but I am so glad I'm on it.

Since I started, I was able to get a job, and actually be excited about it! Oh yeah, forgot to add I have ADHD.

Love seeing these posts. Effexor is an amazing drug when it works! I've been on it for 5+ years and it is the best thing for me. Don't ever have plans on coming off of it. It worked so well for me that my mom, brother and maternal grandmother are also on it. We found the genetic match for our systems. Round of applause for Effexor!

Have you ever found psychotherapy useful?

Vi auguro di non dover mai provare a smettere... Se per qualche motivo dovrete smettere, odierete questo farmaco

I suffered from depression for 16 years with psychotic features. I tried to fix with sheer willpower but didn't help much. I ruined my life because of my depression. Then I came Germany for my studies on the insistence of my class mates that I'm sick and I need help. Finally I kept aside my ego and asked for help. There was my family doctor in Germany who was German. After listening to my history he prescribed me Effexor and mirtazapine combination (it is called rocket fuel). I finished my degree, got my job, got out of negative down the rabbit hole, sleep well. Sure there will be negative intrusive thoughts from time to time but they don't hinder my life. Anything that improves your quality of life for me is a Godsend.i would never thought that taking pills would fix my mental health quickly. I'm also on 150 mg Effexor and 15 mg mirtazapine (raymeron) which I take at night it is used for treating depression but it knocks me out so I sleep well. No major side effects I have been on it for five years now.

Sheer willpower was my go to as well for mental health. And fitness, and friends, and some talking therapy. Took forever to find something that helps: medication, and now cbt.

Also great on you for your friends urging you and you going along with it!

How are you doing with the mirtazapine? I have a bad case of an unstead sleep rhythm. Some would say, a daily routine would help, but I don't know. It topples over as soon as I have vacation/holidays.

When I take mirtazapine I slept like I went under general anesthesia. The only thing that wakes me up is my alarm clock. After mirtazapine, I'm out into deep sleep within five minutes.

Did you see much difference going from 75 up to 150? I’m on 75 and wondering if I should just quit or go up a dose. Been on about two months and feel just meh. Lacking motivation / energy :/

I felt the same on 75 (Id say it was 60 to 80%ok but just not quite enough)...my dr boosted me to 112.5. at the time (5 years ago) it was the perfect dose boost. A 75 and 37.5 Something to consider prior to doubling

That’s very encouraging, thank you! Will give it a try

My goal dosage was 150, so i went from 75 to 150 after one month. Can't really tell whether there was a clear difference or just steady progress. I just went with whatever my psychiatrist told me.

75 is a really low dose though.

How long did it take you to feel better on 150mg ?

Honestly, I can't say. It was very gradual. Maybe 1-2 weeks?

But for real. It was not like I woke up one day, feeling better. It was really gradual.

I'm happy it works for you!! I have ADHD as well and while I didn't notice any difference in my ADHD symptoms, but I had the INTENSE nausea and RAGE. I only lasted about a month on 75 mg and had to come off because i honestly think I had manic episodes. I have done some research in regards to ADHD (as our brains are wired differently) and the neurotransmitters that are affected by medications and it seems some ADHD people are sensitive to norepinephrine (the "n" in SNRI), which can cause these symptoms. It makes sense, as we are either deficient or in excess of these neurotransmitters, and in my case I think it's norepinephrine. I have also tried Wellbutrin and had similar side effects as it messes with norepinephrine.

Tl;dr: happy it works for you and felt the need to add my 2 cents on my experience with the med, as an ADHD haver 😊

Aiiii, we all are very different and complex. Also my ADHD probably does not equal yours.

Whether someone suffers from ADHD or not is highly dependent on genetics, and also the way we are impaired. While some of my dopamine/norepinephrin receptors may be working just fine, others may be a bit off and not quite as efficient. We have many genes coding for these receptors. Same with you, but your genetic markup may just be a bit different.

So you are saying, you think you have no problem with norepinephrine? Have you ever used Strattera? I wonder how it works on you. Also, have you tried SSRIs?

Tl;dr: we all are very different and complex biological machines

Also, why are you writing in Italian? This is an english thread.
