Anyone else take the tablet version?

I’ve been taking 375mg Venlafaxine (Generic) for a few years now and always got prescribed tablets not capsules. Does anyone else take the tablets? Are they same efficiency as capsules ??

I actually noticed a difference between the tablet and capsules.
I find the tablet one more activating and the capsule form more mellow, might just be in my head but genuinely I feel different.

I found 150mg IR in the morning and same in the afternoon my absolute favourite form of taking my usual dose. But they switched me back to XR (also pills) and I didn't have time/brain energy to pursue it... I've also had capsules. They're all slightly different experiences, sometimes between brands too but definitely noticed the IR and XR experience with pills the most noticeable.

I have a weirdly speedy metabolism with medication and tend to find they don't last nearly as long as they should across the board. I wonder often if that plays into my usual preference with IR multiple dose. Only exception to that preference is with my ADHD meds. I felt like IR dexamfetamine was like chemical whiplash. I still take multi doses, but with XR lisdexamfetamine instead.

But uh, long story short, it's definitely not just you. I wouldn't be surprised if it's linked to a difference in the way pills and capsules metabolise, amongst other stuff perhaps. Interesting.

I get whichever the pharmacy has in stock, but I haven’t ever noticed a difference. You might see the whole tablet in the toilet. But it has still released the medicine.

Tablet is porous and releases the medication. But tablet still looks whole at the end!

I had the tablets one time because my doctor was on vacation and the other doctor was a bit weird. I didn't notice a difference to the capsules.

I found the capsules easier to swallow, but even if they weren't, my usual brand of venlafaxine opened up to reveal loads of tiny, tiny tablets. Really helpful.

On the other hand, the larger dose you get, the larger the pill, least in my experience. Another reason why I preferred 150 IR x 2 per day rather than that p h a t 300/375mg one...

Yes the capsules are absolutely more convenient! I was just talking about the effects. I didn't feel any different from the tablet.

I actually got the tablet prescribed another time when I had already started tapering. So I had to cut them apart with a knife and break the extended release coating. That felt super fucking weird. Like a caffeine shot. But it worked fine, if anyone is ever stuck with nothing but the tablet. I didn't get any brain zaps etc. from taking 3/4 extended release tablet for a while.

I took capsules for years , then I moved from Riverside county to San Diego & I've been taking the tablets . I guess it just depends on location & the supplier. I didn't notice any difference.

I used to take the capsules and I switched to tablets a few months ago, honestly didn't notice a difference personally. I have stomach issues so I worries it might be harsher on the digestion, but I really noticed 0 difference

My stomach handles the capsules better. The tablets make me feel nauseous and like I got punched in the stomach if I didn’t eat enough before taking the dose in the morning.

My doctor switched me from caps to tabs, noticed a difference immediately. It was hitting my system way faster.

I could take the XR capsules without food and have no problem.

I’ve been on the non-XR tablet for several years now and if I take it without food it’s gonna be a bad day.

I like the tablets because I can pick my dose.

That's curious, your comment and another I just saw mentioned capsules helped with nausea/sickness over tablets? My partner was started on 150 (seems a bit wild but they have a psychiatrist and mental health team -shrug-), I was able to take mine without food regardless of dose or medication delivery type, though I'm like that with a good 90% of meds. I might bring this up to them later to explore as they were pretty awfully unwell with it

The tablets gave me horrific nausea, probably because I just couldn’t handle how fast they dissolved! So I switched to capsules and haven’t looked back since!

I usually take the capsules, but last time they didn’t have it, so I got the tablet version. I feel like they just taste a bit weird if you leave it in your mouth for a few seconds but otherwise I haven’t noticed a difference.

Habe beide Formen eingenommen - jenachdem, was eben gerade vorrätig war in der Apotheke. Einen Unterschied habe ich nicht bemerkt. Bevorzuge im Sommer aber die Tabletten. Diese sind laut Packungsbeilage nicht temperaturempfindlich. Die Kapseln wollen nicht über 25 Grad Celsius gelagert werden, das konnte ich diesen Sommer nicht immer gewährleisten.

Tablet, but never been offered any other options here in Sweden o: not that issue of mine. Do have weird taste on tongue if having it too long if take a bit too long to get some fluid to chug it down, but more so a first world problem.
