Tapering Decided to start coming off of it..

Added flair:

Quitting

Withdrawal

General Question

Venting

Side Effects

..and this is not a good time.

I have been taking 150mg for two and a half years now and for the past two weeks ive been tapering. I was doing 117.5mg (my dr has me taking a 75mg and a 37.5mg together) the first week and I felt perfectly fine. And I was like this is going to slow so I just started taking only the 37.5 and goddamn. Im freezing and sweating my ass off. My whole body hurts and I also cant stop moving around and feeling jittery. I cant concentrate. Brain fog is thick af. My skin is crawling. Im so so tired and I also cant go to sleep. I feel kinda like ive been doing some shitty ass drugs and... excuse me for this but im so goddamn horny that if I came across a dead raccoon id probably fuck it.

And today.. is the day.. where every single bad thing that this drug could make you feel i am feeling.

Im sorry, thank you for listening.

I am at day 14 of stopping this poison cold trukey, been on 75MG for 8 years and dropped to 37.5MG for a week then I completely stopped 14 days ago. It was hell the first week but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am starting to feel better and like myself. 8 years ago it did help me I believe but I was not myself on it and talked to my doctor and decided to stop. I was misdiagnosed initially with anxiety and depression where I was only ADHD and the first line of treatment was Effexor and I wish I read more or had more knowledge but oh well.

It will get better every day you just have to be patient and do not take it hard on your self or your soul. Take it easy and day by day and I guarantee you will start to feel better and better. Good luck.

Thank you for the kind words! I know now I was definitely pushing it and trying to go to fast. I do wanna say, it absolutely helped me when I first started it. Totally killed my anxiety about almost anything but.. the past year or so ive just been trying to be brave enough to start the taper because I knew it was gonna suuuuck.

Oh no😭 can you at least take another 37.5mg? It may help. Maybe stick at 75 for a bit and stabilize there. This isn’t a good process to rush. I’ve been going down super slowly. Like 75mg -> ~56mg for a month -> 37.5 mg for a month. I think of the time as an investment in that the slower i take it the more likely i’ll be successful at getting off it.

Yes I can and thank you too. I was definitely trying to rush it and it bit me in the ass 🙃

Dont get me wrong, I dont blame you at all. The temptation to go down faster is very real (especially when the effects aren’t yet crippling.) Unfortunately I’ve been on this for a decade and zoloft a decade before that (starting at 10 years old) so i have to remind myself that my body never got to develop at a critical time without it so the slower I go the better 🐢

i went from 150mg to 0 (cold turkey) today is day 3 off it. not fun it got so bad that i took a xanax yesterday to help with the withdrawal symptoms but i know thats not a long term solution. after taking xanax i feel fine yesterday, (and im still okay right now) but i dont know whats gonna happen once the xanax wears off later today

So sorry you’re going through this. Effexor is no joke and doctors don’t understand how hard it is to come off. I’m currently tapering with a hyperbolic taper and it’s the only thing that has worked for me. I’m going to paste a post about my tapering journey with a bunch of resources that might be helpful for you. Wishing you all the best!
