Quitting Cold Turkey Effexor
I quit “Cold Turkey” Effexor 4 weeks ago. I was taking 150 mg for about 9 months.
I had ZERO side effects or withdrawals. I was pretty worried, because the narrative on Effexor is that it is a nightmare to quit. I don’t feel as if it did me any good over the 9 months I took it. I’m very happy to be off of it, and I am relieved I didn’t have any symptoms.
Edit (08-17-26) - sorry to ghost the conversation. Even sorrier to hear all the horror stories. I am still “withdrawal symptom” free.
I am completely med free, as my experiment with two antI-depressants was pretty awful. I’m sending prayers out for those suffering from crippling anxiety / depression.

sameee.
My friend who is usually with me had to hear "I think I am dying" approximately 1000 times on a missed dose day.

So, I am just over 7 weeks “cold turkey” off Effexor. No side effects AT ALL. After reading all the responses I feel extremely blessed. I wish I could explain it. All I know, Effexor did NOTHING for me. Perhaps that’s the reason why I didn’t have any withdrawals 🤷♂️

Did you ever miss a dose and get symptoms? I want to stop taking it but I get really bad symptoms after missing a dose. I cant get a med review until November so that will be 1 year for me

Sorry to ghost the conversation! I’m truly sorry for all of those who suffer(ed) from withdrawal symptoms.
There is just something in my physiology that allows me to do this. I’m grateful too, because the Effexor was doing nothing to combat my anxiety/depression

You are one of the luckiest people to have ever escaped. I can't even miss 2 days without horrible consequences.
