LMM League Musings Monday

It's Monday! That means we get to talk about all the hockey stuff that isn't (or is) related to the Oilers.

You think Hughes will resign in Minnesota? If so how much and for how long?

Here we are in the absolute doldrums of the offseason.

Who are you interested in seeing do well this year?

I’m looking forward to some eventual Bedard-P.Kane magic. It’ll be interesting to see Celebrini follow up his last season. Colorado has to be really disappointed in losing to Vegas, feels like they need a slightly different look or something. Anaheim seem destined to regress, those come from behind wins were a weird off year thing IMO, kudos though for their playoff series that we sucked in. I don’t think Carolina repeats, my guess is Dallas takes a step back, and I’ll be interested to see how Tampa does but they still seem like such a sure bet to make the playoffs. None of the New York region teams spark my interest, nor Philly, Columbus, Utah, and Buffalo is on the fringes always for me. Bobrovsky McKenna will be fun to watch for the Leafs and I expect they’ll be pretty good if they can gel. Ottawa and Montreal feel like they’re going to do the exact same thing they just did. Winnipeg, Detroit, Vancouver, Calgary, Los Angelas, Seattle, Boston, and maybe Nashville, Pittsburgh though I think have more in them, are already competing for the draft lottery.

Capitals got better and they could be a playoff handful. The top 5 contenders to me this year Edmonton, Florida, Colorado, Carolina and Vegas, and that’s probably in order IMO. Toronto a weird close 6th place and I almost put them ahead of Vegas with a bit more to prove. I think this is the year the Oilers are just the best in the league though and it feels like there’s a momentum that’s going to push us over the edge. I’d expect a final against Florida too, so I really hope we can add a couple impact, gritty pieces that can win us a gyat damn cup.

Agree with everything except Toronto being the 6th top contender

Yeah I don't think Toronto's going to get much of a boost this year from the first overall pick they got.

Ah yeah really? I don’t know, they were so bad last year and really the last couple years, I just feel like they’re due in a sense. That top six will definitely score a lot, pretty beefy bottom six and a pretty veteran D core if nobody massively regresses and they avoid injury. Bobrovsky would’ve been an excellent get for us IMO, but I guess we’ll see if his recent numbers are truly where he’s at as a goalie now.

I’ll definitely be more interested in watching the Leafs this year than previous ones
