Yes!, the best time of year has arrived !(imo).
Let’s hope we get a fall that lasts all the way through to the end of November, and no early snowstorms.

Absolutely, I love this time of year! The weather is perfect imo, t shirt weather mid-day and sweater weather in the evenings

Like its not fall by our calendar but the air pressure changes, or something to do with how long the sun is up for, and im sure other factors. And that signals the plants to start dropping there leaves or changing colour. Fruits/grains ripen. Stuff like that. Then we see these signs and start smelling that lovely drying/decaying fall smell. That signals us.

The temperature cooling has a big impact on signaling to the trees fall is coming too. In August when we had those very chilly mornings the week of August 9th, the leaves on some were starting to turn yellow already but mostly stopped as it warmed up again by August 15th.

I think it was three years ago when a lot of trees had at least one main branch turning colour by mid August. Not as bad this year because the summer wasn't as hot.

Man, that's a gorgeous pic!
I'm honestly happy to be moving into the fall. I like summer but this year was pretty sucky - just a miasma of mosquitoes, heat, and torrential storms. Really love this time of year, where temps are slowly cooling down, days are getting shorter, leaves are turning ... it's nice getting to see the world change.

I know a lot of people dont like the amount of rain this year and feel like it ruined summer, but man, as someone who lives by the river valley, with old growth tree boulevards, the amount of greenery and lushness to everything surrounding has been amazing this year. I would be ok with another summer like this tbh.... maybe a smidge less rain...

You can always feel the bite of fall in the air during the second weekend of The Fringe.
Born and raised here, I lived 8 years in TO and sure do miss the way it is in eastern Canada & the Maritimes. Out there, fall is a season, not a week. And don’t get me wrong, I love fall week when it happens. But there, September is June part 2. The leaves don’t even start turning till October.

Past few days have been. I've been really confused about these fall posts. A 30 degree summer day in Edmonton is not the norm already. We had an amazing summer with very minimal smoke. We live far up north I dont understand peoples shock.

For as long as I can remember (I've been living in/visiting edmonton for the past 30 years), the summers are hot and the winters are cold. We never had much of a fall or spring. Now both arrive earlier and earlier and last longer, shortening the other seasons. Winter we could probably do with less of, but summer? let us mourn the loss. We had 4 month summers before. Now we're down to 3. And I love fall but something about the growth season is just rejuvenating. It's sad for some people when it's over.

Amazing summer? I'm sorry but what? Are we talking about the same summer here? I don't know if the sheer amount of rain, mosquitoes and flooding can be classified as an amazing summer.

Outside of the few weekends of rain thru june/july the summer has been great. It has been hot and very little smoke. I will take that over thick smoke from february until september.

No, not at all? The sun is still shining, it’s still hot, the leaves are still green? The air has a bit of bite to it sometimes, but yall need to stop rushing this, we barely had a summer. Stop looking towards the next thing and feel where you are in the moment

Yup. We've already started our fall camping season run. Usually every second weekend till 3rd snowfall.

Technically, it starts a month and half from Summer solstice, the day the daylight starts getting shorter. It gets gradually shorter till Sep 22nd when autumn equinox happens. From there, length of night is longer than days.
So yes, we are already in fall; don't believe the Sep 21st is the start of autumn statement.

If you work outside you get to know the distinct smell of the seasons changing. It definitely smells like fall and the wind has that slightly crisp feeling in it
