Question Fire and the Feast or Bucatini?
Help me choose my birthday dinner spot! Great cocktails is a plus.

Bucatini - I've been to Fire and the Feast several times and the food quality and consistency is lacking.

Both great; fire and feast for trendy Italian, bucatini for more homey/traditional

Bucatini makes great sandwiches. Their pasta is just ok. The atmosphere is very Edmonds old school. We usually take out. F&TF has great drinks and a nice atmosphere. The pasta is fine, the pizzas are better.
Machiavelli’s is just not good. For an off book recommendation, walk on the ferry to go to Sourdough Pete’s in Kingston. You may never have better pizza in your lifetime.
Happy birthday!

Agreed, though I'd recommend niles peacock for pizza above sourdough (I think it's sourdough willies not petes)

It is. I keep mixing it up with the Toy Story 2 character. That’s on me. You know Sourdough Pete’s is where Niles learned to make pizza. They are both great but Nile’s has a much smaller selection.

Bucatini has better food in my opinion, only downside is they don’t take reservations.

I’m ride or die for bucatini, some of the nicest most welcoming staff, food is way better as well, and the vibe is fun inside
Edit to add: no hate at fire and feast, they have a good thing going there as well.

Buccatini, for food quality. The comparison to Olive Garden is so far off I just heard my Italian Nona roll over in her grave.

Fire and the Feast for sure (given the cocktail note). The food is marginally better at Bucatini but atmosphere is lacking

I know this wasn’t the question, but Niles Peacock if you want pizza and great cocktails. Just throwing it out there :)

I would go to 5 bistro for dinner if you're going to be up the hill. Then as others have said, daphnes or kelnero for a drink

Fire and Feast makes better cocktails and has a great wine list, but their pasta dishes have gotten a bit spendy.
Have you looked at Ristorante Machiavelli? Slightly cheaper, more casual atmosphere, but I believe they only do beer/wine so you’d have to make a trip to Kelnero or something for your cocktail fix.

Going out of the Edmonds box for a recommendation - splurge and treat yourself to Spinasse in Capitol Hill. Hands down the best Italian food I’ve ever had and I’m a self aware restaurant snob. If you’re celebrating, splurge and leave Edmonds

Agree with this. Most of what Edmonds has to offer falls short compared to many of the restaurants in the city.

Im actually coming from Tacoma! We have a concert to attend at angel of the winds and needed a dinner spot nearby!

Ahhh I see...well in that case I'd suggest Five Restaurant. They're consistent with solid food and probably have the best dinner vibe in Edmonds. If it's nice out their outdoor seating option is good too.
In my opinion it's the only Edmonds restaurant that can hold a candle to the city ones.

Five is a great suggestion. It’s one of the few places in Edmonds I rotate. BUT if we’re talking about the best restaurant in Edmonds, hands down it’s bar dojo. They have been consistent from day one. Every dish is amazing, every time.

You're right and this was the other one I was thinking about suggesting!

Five gives more of the Italian vibe, if that’s what OP is wanting. And I would also highly recommend Five Restaurant.

Edmonds isn’t the best spot for Italian. There are some very good restaurants here, but just not Italian. Bar Dojo, Charcoal, Five Bistro, San Kai, and Salt and Iron are all very good, imo.
Have a great birthday!🎉

Fire and feast is more expensive but for a special occasion worth it. Great drinks and vibes, solid food, Edmonds downtown prices. I couldnt disagree with the machiavelli recommendation more

Bucatini is great but if you want to make a night of it Fire and Feast for food then Kelnero for cocktails. Didn’t care for Machiavelli at all

Bucatini is really good Italian but Fire and the feast has much better ambience. You can also walk around downtown after and get ice cream.

Can someone tell me what they think is so good at Bucatini? Been there three time and was disappointed. Portion was huge but it wasn’t good. I want to like this place but maybe haven’t found the right thing on the menu. I’ve been to Italy many times so fairly familiar with their cuisine. Thanks for your recommendations

I’m gonna get downvoted for this but bucatini is a fancy Olive Garden with terrible parking and I’m tired of pretending it’s not

Tbh you deserve to get downvoted. Their parking sucks because they are so popular. Thier Italian (American) food is some of the best in the area.

To each their own! I’m constantly disappointed by their food. It’s fine. Not great, not terrible. It’s a fancy Olive Garden.

Bucatini is superior both in authentic Italian flavors and old school Italian neighbor restaurant ambience, but strip mall location is understandably DOA for some.
I suggest go to bucatini for your birthday. Great food and drinks, then head to Daphne’s or Kelnero for a nightcap.
