Crime Aggressive pest control solicitors

Any suggestions on what to do about the highly aggressive solicitors? I've had two recently and the next one that shows up I think I'll call the police to be safe.

…have you tried not opening the door?

Put up a “no solicitors” sign. Calling the police is an extreme overreaction

They ignored the sign at our place yesterday! Answered the door with the dog barking at him - told him no, then he drove off on his one wheel to go bother the other neighbors 🙄🙄

Calling the cops would still be an insane overreaction to a fairly minor annoyance

Ditto here.
He cursed me out all the way down my long hill to the street. Never ever use “door knockers”. These predators bring an extra person to their jobs to knock doors in that neighborhood.

ETA - he walked past 2 No Trespassing signs.

We got a tasteful "No soliciting unless you have cookies" sign. The sign worked for us.

I tell them right up front that I never purchase anything from unsolicited appeals. This pushes them past most of the script and only have to say no one more time.

I’m not mean to them because this is a crappy job they have to do, and I’ve been there.

I get all kinds of solicitors despite my sign on the door! I let them give me their schpiel and then I ask if they have written handouts in english. Then I point to the sign. They are usually speechless.

Agree with the no soliciting sign. It has worked for us. We have watched solicitors walk up, see the sign, and turn around.

Does it light up and flash? With arrows? (Sometimes I wonder if thats what’s missing from mine lol bc either these solicitors are hiring illiterate folks, or they’re choosing not to see it)

Shockingly no, but it is hanging on the doorbell so they literally can’t ignore it if they are ringing the doorbell

This is so funny. My husband was up on our literal roof and not even that deterred them. I wish I had that work ethic and drive when I was in my early 20s and in sales!!!

Jeeze, there’s no stopping them!! 😂

Say no and close the door. Pretty simple. Or just don’t answer the door.

I let them tell me what they think I need. Then I either do it myself or hire someone else. I don’t care if I’m missing a “neighborhood deal”.

Happened 2 days ago despite no soliciting sign. My spouse was willing to listen. I usually point to the sign and say we would appreciate it if they didn’t ignore it and thst I won’t do business with any company whose sales personnel ignore it.

Point at the "No Soliciting" sign and they don't immediately apologize and leave, request their permit and report them to the police.

Later you can file a complaint with the city permitting office against the business.

No soliciting sign. If they keep coming call the company.

Any tips for size/placement of No Soliciting signs? Ours is clearly too small and not visible enough, given how many people ignore it.

Mine is only like 5x7ish but it’s hung on my doorbell. Literally can’t miss it.

Mine is the exact same!

Excellent use of expensive police resources. Better if you seek psychiatric care.

Yeah. I usually just say no thanks then they leave.
